A friend of mine is selling his xbox360 to me for £150 with 4 games Kameo,Ghost recon,Perfect dark,Ridge racer only problem is that it crashes on Ridge racer I mean he says its never crashed on the other games just ridge racer.

He bought the console while on holiday in the USA at launch date now I've done some research im guessing its the power pack that could be over heating

Thing is if I buy it can i still play PAL games on it? as he was unsure

no you cannot play PAL games on it, only NTSC ames and any region free games, until a modchip comes out that enables you to do so. If you do buy it then probably best to do the firmware hack on it then you could grab the scene releases and play them, again remember to grab the NTSC versions or region free

Well first off the reason he's selling it to you for so cheap is because alot of the release date 360's are flawed and die after about 6 months. Sounds like the one in question is already displaying the first symptoms. As for playing PAL games, well it depends on whether it's a NTSC/J system or an NTSC/U system. But in general about 1/2 of the 360 games currently released are region locked, so they won't work. The up to date 360's have apparently had the flaw fixed and will work fine for years. Although we'll know in about 6 months I guess. It's up top you, I mean you are getting it for half price, so if you're willing to take the risk then fair enough. Check if the warrently is still valid because if he has the receipt you might be able to get it replaced if it dies. Get a gp2x www.gp32x.com instead and enjoy open source emulators and videos on the go. generally I find there to be much more entertainment to be had in emulators and old games than some of the new graphics galore thats released/developed these days. ....why would I play chrome hounds if I can play terra nova or mechwarrior on my handheld But then again, I don't care much to play with squeeky thirteen year old's on my tv Or get a gamecube if you need something for tv, they're dirt cheap these days and easy to mod with a chip, tons of good rpgs to be had there. wow, I bought one of the first release machines and it started crashing occasionaly, occasionaly became quite a lot, and then it just refused to boot... just a red flashing light. You might want to consider this before you buy. I took mine back to the Virgin Megastore and they replaced it there and then, even after 4 months, seems they know was likely an issue with it. I think I'd steer clear.

Just kill him and take it friends are replacable.... But honestly I wouldn't buy it coz you have no guarantee on it... Unless you want to go to the states to fix it?

A group of my friends just started developing a game for the GP2X.. its a fantastic console.. but it has some way to go before it lives up to its full potential..

ON TOPIC:

Sounds shadey to me, and more to the point most international buying wont be covered by warranty.. my Jap PSP isnt thats for sure.
