well it got certain sarcasm in it, if you think about it under the situation america got today, and in history. but i have to admit, eventhough i dont like it, there is small truth innit aswell.
In first world war and specially in second world war, united states played major part for the victory, if you want to call the ending by that. there is no denying of this, they really did "help". it is totally different thing, the wars after and the policy, as a world police after then.

But the reason for getting involved in WW2 was not out of mere generosity. In fact they saw they could earn something on it politically (The Marshal Deal).

@yourgod aswell
Oh, Im not denying that they played a part in the second world war (not as big in the first). But the Americans, British, Canadians and Russians didnt "win" the war alone. It was the combined efforts of everyone that defeated Hitler. To say America saved europe discredits both the british and canadians. My family fought and died for the liberation of europe, as did many brits. The americans alone wouldnt have been able to stop the nazi war machine, neither would the brits and canadians...everyone needed each other.

After getting sucked into WW1, US didn't want to get into another one. Lucky the Japs attacked USA, because that saved all your asses.
All you need to realize is, WW2 would have been lost without America. Yes it was a team effort,
but the home team was down 21 points in the forth quarter, then came Favre to your rescue.

well yeah, i am not saying america did it alone. and wasnt it so that america didnt give a shit about the boiling europe at the beginning, they joined the war in the middle. and helping is also supplying, you cant get any idea of that by showing the number of deaths.
stating saving europe is rough said, but i knew it would get some interesting discussion here.

We learned from WW2, we learned not to wait for trouble, we go after it. To bad other countries didn't learn a damn thing from WW2.

@yourgod
Naw man. America was the ally that sat on the bench till the fourth quarter then came in and tries to take all the credit. Hitler was a global problem and it took the americans a while to realize this. When england began to fall, they got worried as the only place to go from england was to north america, america and canada were next.
Dont get me wrong, alot of good american soldiers gave their lives for a worthy cause. But to say one nation saved everyone is bs. It was the combined efforts of all. And yeah, america played its hand right. Maybe things would have been different if it were an English, Canadian, American war from the beginning in 39. Im proud in th fact that when it comes to major things like that, very few american, englsih, russians and canadians think like you and discredit one another.
You should respect all those who fought in WW2. Beyond bravery.
@numero
you should see some of the discussions we've had about WW2

There was more to WW2 than Germany, And USA supplied USSR and England and fought the Japs. And it wasn't our freaken WAR. Maybe US should have been neutral, like all the brave Sweds are now.
And after WW1 USA wasn't ready to fight another war. But we still did.

Oh i hate when Americans say that It WAS 'your' war. What the fuck do you think Hitler was trying to do? Once he conquered england, what do you think he would have done next? The US and Canada and Mexico wouldnt have stood a chance against the Nazi's...WW2 was about the free and the good against an evil.
And Canada also fought against japan. The first wave of allied ground troops into japan was a canadian battalion stationed near by (I cant remember exactly where).
Tho i will agree, america did the most work against Japan.

shaman, got to read heh.
well macknu, i guess there is no telling how different things would have been if us wouldnt have entered. but the deal is that at least it fastened the ending of the war, i think thats obvious. in other words saved lives. but i am pretty certain of the information, that the situation wasnt so clear back then. if we speculate, there are quite a few facts that supports the statement that ww2 could have been won by nazi without us help.
yourgod, i think most of the countries learnt not to go after the trouble, and fight it like a idiot, instead preventing trouble and think about what causes the trouble. Its funny how ww2 would have been prevented, if countries would have sticked together and respected and supported the former United Nations.
War in iraq, the breaking rules of United Nations doesnt really impress me about the learning of previous mistakes.

i am not saying, that you are not knowing what you are saying, by saying "got" to read. What i meant to say, was that i am going to read, what it is in the other ww2 threads. "shaman, i got to read them later". i didnt mean it in a offensive way.
"like all the brave Sweds are now." you are hilarious.
