why are releases split?

I never understood this.. why are releases always split into 15 meg rar files..

if you look at the download que you have, its always the exact same size as the image file you end up getting after extracting, so I know its not for saving time on downloading. Confused

If one part Is bad (or missing)..you don't have to download everything again, just that file.
If Its just one big file, and It gets corrupted or something, you have to download the whole thing again..

its because when the groups share their releases in msn messenger, sometimes they by accident click cancel button, and instead of sending the whole 700 mb file they can send just the 15 meg one.

or these guys just SmokesAlot and tries to make your life harder.

So you don't need to download the whole ISO, just the corrupted rarfile if there is somebullshit. You can also choose what to seed if you use bittorrent. And yeah, you save lotsa time. And take less space.

You are probably one of those guys mentality who upload 4GB isos to some sites that get corrupted frequently after download/upload and I think these types should be

when everyone was on 56k they would not be able to get much more than 15mb before there connection droped Laughing thats probably one of the reasons

It still happens that uploader get cut off. That is why we have par files Razz Imagine how long it would take to repair a 4gb file O.o
