Half-Life 3 Engine screenshots?

Quote:
These are samples they send to potential investors. Screenshots taken from a real time engine demo that is being produced for Half-Life 3 and other next gen games. The engine name is currently unknown, but more info will probably surface when these get spread around more.

I hope that shitty draw distance is an effect they're using to enhance the atmosphere of the tunnels. Razz

i personally think a game should look like a game not like the real world. Crysis would be better than the pictures above in a game imo

Those images look quite surreal in a way, have they been photomanipulated?

They are HDR images. High dynamic range as you likely know from HL2.

They are produced by taking multiple shots of the same scene at different exposure settings. From dark to very bright over exposed shots. Then you stick them in Photoshop cs2 with it's new hdr setting and it will spit out an image that captures a much higher dynamic range than with a conventional picture.

These images are overdone like most images you will see with hdr. People are learning how to use it, but many images look amazing when it is done correctly.

HAHA. Complaining about draw distance on real pictures. To funny.

Those are amazing pictures though. The link provided shows some even nicer ones. Thanks for the link, even if they are not HL3 pictures.

LOL, yeah I know. But you can see what I was referring to, it doesn't look like you can see very far in those tunnels and considering the lighting you would expect to be able to see further. Very Happy
