Watch out for this one!!!!! all WWII film lovers, this will be up there with BOB and SPR etc.

Quote:
Tali-Ihantala 1944 is an episode movie based firmly on actual events. The film depicts the largest battle in the history of the nordic countries, which ended in a decisive Finnish victory which ultimately ensured Finnish independence

The movie tells a story about individual men and units in combat, in which survival demanded luck but also the ability to with stand brutal toughness and cruelty. Only the few survived and out of those only fewer are still alive today. This is a story about those who defended our country.

I don't think so (judging from the trailer). BOB wasn't all about FX - it had CHARACTERS and a perfect cast. This one may be accurate, epic etc but I couldn't see characters in the trailer. But maybe i'm wrong and it's just a bad trailer.

Actually reading some comments from peeps that have seen it. It does not really build up much of the characters etc, so Vodka might be right there....still, will get it when it comes out.

it's not a character movie
it doesn't really have a story
just mostly seperate individual episodes on days surrounding the big fight
some recurring characters
there's a silly bit in the middle where a finnish guy goes a bit rambo, but apart from that it's ok, if you don't hold being an episode film without a story or developing characters against it
it's good to see some realistic ww2 tank warfare for a change, if nothing else
i don't recall seeing any other ww2 film with tanks other than on the sidelines
