Games of August :

If something is not right or if i have forgotten a game please speak Smile

El Matador

Website: http://www.elmatador-game.com/
Publisher: Cenega
Developer: Plastic Reality Technologies
Genre: Third-person Shooter
Release Date: August 16

Quote:
El Matador is a 3rd person "tactical action" game with stealth features. It takes proven features of the genre and enhances them with the latest technology, to provide the player with an opportunity to experience the excitement of espionage first hand.
The storyline, which weaves its way throughout the adventure, combines all the essential features of surprise, unexpected twists and dramatic developments. It is a tale of corruption, revenge, moral ambiguity and ultimate justice. The timeline progresses automatically, as shown in clips which pop up throughout the game.

DarkStar One

Website: http://www.darkstar-one.de/
Publisher: Ascaron / CDV Software Entertainment
Developer: Ascaron
Genre: Space Combat
Release Date: August 14

Quote:
Darkstar One is a space-based action adventure title that delivers fast-paced action within a vast and authentic universe. As Kayron Jarvis, the youthful commander of the Darkstar One, players explore the immenseness of space, encountering a variety of aliens, both friend and foe as Kayron aims to bring peace back to the galaxy. Game play adapts dynamically to the player's preferences and allow both tactical and strategic decision-making to overcome the myriad of challenges presented.

Dungeon Siege II: Broken World

Website: http://brokenworld.gaspowered.com/
Publisher: 2K Games
Developer: Gas Powered Games
Genre: RPG
Release Date: August 30

Quote:
Dungeon Siege II was one of those games that got it hooks in you, provided you gave it some time. It was a pretty straightforward dungeon crawler, but with some character progression, inventory management, and art style that elevated it above its competitors. Now comes Broken World, the expansion pack that will bring an end (we're told) to the story of Aranna. But it's not just more stuff. The voice acting has been completely overhauled, there are two new and interesting hybrid classes, and there's fresh content for both new and pre-existing characters. Hand-designed dungeons also lead into challenging encounters, beyond just clicking the swing button faster. Since MMOs, RTSs and shooters dominate the platform, it's nice to see someone going in a different direction.

GTR 2

Website: http://www.10tacle.com/gtr-game/
Publisher: 10Tacle
Developer: SimBin
Genre: Racing
Release Date: August 30

Quote:
GTR-FIA emerged last year as a surprisingly good racing sim, and its sequel, coming out just over a year later, is adding an impressive amount of improvements, considering how much time has passed. Like DirectX 9 support, for one thing. You'll now get some neat effects on the ground and vehicle textures that add realism, which is of utmost importance in a sim game. There's also a true day/night cycle, which comes in handy for the Proximus 24H. Yes, that's a tournament that ends with a race that lasts for twenty-four hours. Then there's the ghost lines that trace previous driving performance, or someone else's performance, or recommendations on how you should perform. You'll see this the most in the new Driving School, and the whole shebang facilitates fun by allowing you to instantly restart any race (as opposed to the game having to re-load the track every time you want to start from the beginning).

ParaWorld

Website: http://www.paraworld.com/
Publisher: TBA
Developer: Sunflowers, SEK Ost
Genre: Real-time strategy
Release Date: August 31

Quote:
What to Expect: Sunflowers has been around since 1993, but they haven't had much activity in North America until recently. One of the biggest game publishers in Germany is behind ParaWorld, which is being developed by SEK Ost. ParaWorld is a departure from Sunflowers' usual historical fare; in this RTS, you'll be in a prehistoric environment where dinos and people coexist and can choose from factions resembling Europe, Asia, and Egypt. One of the key features is a group formation system that ensures a player won't be able to stack up a bunch of powerful units and steamroll someone else. There are five categories of unit type, and higher categories have fewer slots. The real key feature, of course, is terrorizing field workers with a frickin' Tyrannosaurus Rex, but it sounds like playing the game properly will be fun too. At least there aren't any Panzers in it! Although there may be panthers.

Sword of the Stars

Website: http://www.swordofthestars.com/
Publisher: Destineer, Lighthouse
Developer: Kerberos
Genre: Strategy
Release Date: August

Quote:
What to Expect: Kerberos is largely the team that made Homeworld: Cataclysm, which balances out the fact that they're Canadian. Also in their favor is a really intriguing approach to space battle. While the movement to a full 3D environment sounds natural, Kerberos presents some good reasons for not doing so in a recent interview. With their experience in the space strategy genre, it sounds like they're dodging a lot of obstacles that have knocked out lesser developers. You can design your own ships (which determines their behavior as well as their stats), build your own space empire, choose your tech tree paths, and demolish exotic aliens. Like many of the games in this list, Sword of the Stars is taking a less conventional path, or at least a path that hasn't been paved into a superhighway.

Well people who can't appreciate some of the nice games coming out should be playing on xbox360 anyway.
Personally I greatly like Space Empires IV and so will be looking forward to sword of the stars, neither of those games is 'graphical' enough or doesn't reward you instantly as it's strategy on the higest scale , and so most "console gamers" will never understand them. Twisted Evil
