I'm really curious, the last mech warrior was ages ago. There seem to be a few new games coming out for consoles, but what about the pc? Chromehounds looks interesting (despite mixed reviews) and it calls to my mech-loving self....but no matter how loud it calls, it can never make it past the $500 wall. I've bought an xbox in the past, 3-5 games I Liked and bought, i'm not gonna buy a 360 just for halo and 1 or 2 other games. CHromehounds is supposedly "exclusive" but i've seen games braded that before cross systems.

Has anyone read any news about any pc related mech games? I've seen exteel...but that looks more like a FPS with mech avatars. *sigh* Is there just not much interest in the mech genre? How could anyone not like the idea of a hundred ton robot walking around blowing shit up?

I believe he is thinking about Mech-games like Mechwarrior4. Battlefield2142 is not a mech game per se, it just has a mech unit tossed in along with the ten other units.

Mechwarrior series was KICK ASS. I loved Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries. The freedom, the carnage, the destruction! That, and all your wingmen had unique personalities. Badassness. Too bad Mechwarrior 5 got cancelled ages ago. We need a PC exclusive Mechgame with a solid singleplayer campaign and multiplayer coop / deathmatch capability. Sigh.

I can say this for chromehounds, when you're in a clan/squad, the game really comes into it's own. The singleplayer is fairly boring, but it's excellent pratice for online play and you can earn lots of new parts through it so it's definitely worth playing through.

The online war is just awesome, if you're in an organised clan you can plan out where different people are going to be deployed, and earn money, renown and parts aswell as access to exlusive cutting edge technology. As you gain more renown you have more of a say in how your particular country is run, as your votes count for more.

You can each take a role in a particular battle and buy parts based on how you want to aid your team. Best mech game i've played for sure, the customisation of the mechs is the most complete i've ever seen.

As for the mediocre review scores, well it's obvious why it scores that way. The singleplayer is only about a 50% quality game on it's own. But if you have a clan and you can pay online it's an 80-90% game. Only if you like mech games anyway though of course.

One of the coolest mech games I've ever played is Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner on PS2. I know it's not that kind of mech game you're talking about - simulators with customization and so on. But damn, the action in that game is really over the top.

Oh, and Lost Planet is coming for the X360 at the beginning of 2007 - promises to be a decent game with a lot of mech action in it.

Sadly no such games for the PC as far as I know.

I loved mechwarriors, I wondered if there was gonna be a 5...can't believe it was canceled. T_T

And I love that about chromehounds, the online war. Team play....but the price to get into the game is too high. My PC will last me quite a while longer, that's why i'm hoping for PC. BF2142 will have mechs, that'll be nice but that'll feel more like another vehicle than a mech...but that fills the role of walking destruction.

Zone of Enders was great, 2nd runner was much better. Taking out a swarm of flyers and tossing enemies into each other is a blast. It had a storyline! *gasp* amazing! If armored core had similar controls it'd prolly ahve been more popular.

*sigh* Gfx these days are so amazing, a new pc mech game would prolly make me soil myself. Have a fun single play with a good storyline, then have the online war like in chromehounds.....THAT would prolly be my perfect game. Honestly, why no mech games? Most of the new games i'm seeing for pc are empire builders....a lot of those focus around rome.
