Is there a certain player that should be used on this? I've got the correct codecs n what not but movie plays a lil bit sluggish. I know you need a high end system to run these movies off a computer but mine can handle it, dunno about the VIDEO card (7900gs KO) though but a dual core cpu uses 54-62% and not much memory. I've tried media player classic from the combined community codec pack and plays anything I throw at it even this but as I said, it's a bit sluggish.

Afaik, PowerDVD can play HD-DVDs quite well, and it will use that v.card of yours to accelerate the playback.

er damn, I shoulda mentioned it was a rip (.mkv ) but I'll see if I can get powerdvd to play it as well as vlc, thnx guys
nvm, I got it, the combined community codec pack was using it's normal codec instead of the one for the HD, disabled and all is well.
but god damn, using 91% on a dual core o.0

actually VLC ended up being the worst one of the group. I think the codec just still needs to be worked on. The shit is new, It'll take some time to get it working good.

Use CoreAVC SpykeZ, it's the best one at the moment.

well make sure you got the correct decoder installed then use windows media player classic
I already had that but apparently using the pro version works well of alot better. No hiccups or anything now.

I grabbed a few HD DVD rips over the week and the EVO files play in Powerdvd 6.5 (HD-DVD). It seems to downscale to 960x540 on my ancient Geforce 5900 series graphics card. Still, crazy high bitrate video streams look nice.

sorry for the temp hijacking of this plane, but did anyone else think powerdvd 7's layout and setup sucked ass, where as 6 was quite good? 7 actually feels LIGHT on features (and ive registered the 'deluxe' version, so im not running a demo here...) - also the 'docking' method for the controller is rubbish, resizing the player window has limitations where as i dont recall 6 having them, theres only TWO? skins and they both look ugly... and also doesnt the amount of advertising for powerdvds company on the program kinda piss you off as well, even after youve registered it? id be super pissed if i had actually BOUGHT the thing... im debating switching to windvd (yeah thats how bad i feel powerdvd's gotten...) - anyone else hate v7?

6.5 works but not all the time. This topic was started on a h264 release not HD-DVD because Underworld is a Sony movie thus it's only going to be released for Blu Ray. Some people are now converting hd-dvd's over to h264 files which is nice. Sadly I have an xbox 360 and it can only stream WMV files. I have to setup a transcoder to be able to change get it streamed correctly.
