im looking for a good codec pack that will include all the needed codecs to watch nowadays movies...(xvid,divx..latest versions)
anyone knows one????


My Rig:
AMD Barton 2500+
768DDR PC2100 [266Mhz]
Gigabyte GA-7VT600P-RZ
Radeon 9800pro 128MB [R350].
AC97 5.1 onboard Sound Controller.
CD+RW and CD-ROM Drives.

I use one of the K-lite ones. Works fine with most movies.

I always used the Nimo Codec Pack. He just stopped updating them but the latest one is fine.

really never liked codec packs...
i can see the use for it for "novice" users..

heard both good and bad things about all of
the packs mentioned here, so i guess my
advice is to download and try the packs for yourself..

codec packs cause lots of problems whenever you install tons of stuff at once your bound to have conflicts. Just take the easy safe rout and download each codec 1 by 1 atleast you wont have to worry about spam or weird 3rd party apps being installed into your computer (unless you install divx which is a horrible codec to begin with)

Latest version of ffdshow supports all versions of DivX and XviD, and can decode AC3 audio too. Nothing else required for DivX/XviD scene releases.

Alternatively you could use VideoLAN, which uses its own internal codec's so you don't need to install any packs. It's good for SVCDs too as it can play them in cue/bin format.
