Does anyone know if you can use wildcards in the host file?
I'm using it to block those shitty ass context adds, and places like intellitext use an infinite amount of subdomains. I'm wondering if I can make entries like:
127.0.0.1 *.intellitext.com
Yeah I tried a plugin for firefox, but it caused my browser to crash a lot, I had to dump it. They're essentially not much different than using the hosts file.
That's a nice idea, blocking the IP, but useless unless I block a range then who knows what all else I get. their main page intellitxt.com, and two subdomains I've blocked so far via the hosts file all have different ips, rpg.us.intellitxt.com and techpage.us.intellitxt.com are all different, so blocking IPs seems futile as well.
I tried usign an * as a wildcard in the hosts file and no luck there.
