Hello,

I'm running Windows 7 x64. I have a question: it is better to play games with Administrator Account (scene releases: RELOADED, Razor1911, Skidrow)? I allways use PC with Standard User Account, because I heard that it is better for everyday computing. Are the games working properly with Standard User accounts (with limited privileges)? For example, if I install games using Administrator Account, but play with Standard User... Can there occur any bugs or crashes if playing with Standard User instead of playing with Admininstrator account? I know that games should run fine when they are designed to run with Standard User account, but how about Crack's - do they need Administrator account?

P.S. sorry for my poor English ...

Most games nowadays save either to My Documents or their roaming application data folder, where they have access to under limited privileges. So in the majority of cases, you should be fine. In cases where problems do arise (usually in poorly written games or older games when these concerns were usually rarely applicable), you can always shift-right-click on the EXE and select "Run as different user" and use one of your administrator accounts. Only if you don't know what you're doing (which I guess is the majority of computer users these days Razz). But like Leo said standard account works just fine for gaming most of the time.

Yes, I understand. Smile But when using pirated games (RELOADED, Razor1911 ...), are cracks also designed to work with Standard User account? I just wonder if they are tested with Standard Accounts before release. Smile

Cracks should normally not require more privileges than the game itself - their sole purpose is to bypass a copy protection. Wink

I know that most people are using Administratot account for playing games... But I personally think that it is more secure to use Standard account for gaming... My major concern is when playing pirated Online games, because I think that games can be not cracked properly, and an attacker from internet can use vulnerabilities found in the cracks when playing multiplayer game. I personally also use Admin account, but maybe it is better to use Standard account, especially for Online games. It would be interesting to know other opinions about that, how you are playing... Smile

Well usually Steam games are uncrackable, so you should be careful with releases claiming to contain cracks for such games.

cracked games usually require LESS privileges than original games, as protection software often needs to install into the OS or access the machine at lower level
