According to News4Gamers.com ATI has revealed that DirectX10 is possible on the Xbox360 with an update

ATI recently announced that on the 360 it's possible to install DX10 by an update. It could mean a lot of DX10 games coming to 360, especially with XNA and cross over programming. It looks like a clear case when Microsoft is talking about Live anywhere. If new games will use DX10, it would be more then likely that the 360 runs DX10.

a) crysis is dx9 and dx10
b) crysis will run on dx9 on the x360
c) dx10 wasnt finalized when the x360 came out, how can a patch make it dx10 compliant?

Its nothing but bullshit, the gpu needs to be make for dx10, you just cant patch dx9 hardware to dx10.

you cant emulate the hardware without a serious performance bottleneck. I think microsoft had this planned way way way in advance, and it makes sense to me that theyd save some stuff since live anywhere is such a huge marketing startergy for microsofts future game division. Plus as ive been saying for months now vista is forcing a much much much stricter hardware compliance from graphics vendors, and directx 10 totally drops legacy hardware. If you have a dx9 card in vista it defaults to dx9.0L using no shared files from dx10. Wait for Live for PC, which imho is not a bad thing xbl is awesome and well worth the small yearly fee

Well I am not sure where that site got its bogus info but yeah its been confirmed false. Wish what they are talking about was true, then I could take out my old ps2.0 cards and patch em to ps 3.0 Laughing Anyways yeah you can't patch hardware to run specs that werent around at the time it was made with software. If you want proof, here goes:

Quote:
Unfortunately, none of this is true, according to ATI themselves. "Xbox360 cannot run DX10, and confirmed what I said earlier about the extended functionality. "The Xbox360 has unique features including memory export that can enable DX10-class functionality such as stream-out," said an ATI spokesperson. "From what we're hearing, Crysis will support DX9 with some sort of use for DX10 features. It's likely that those DX10 visuals can be replicated on the Xbox360, but it can't be properly called DX10."
