|
 |
Can somebody who has used SSMerge tell me how it works.
I have 2 ISOs, Table Tennis NTSC - Mirage and The Outfit NTSC Proper - Ind. Both were not patched. So I got hold of the SS files for both.
When I opened mrg-tt.iso in SSMerge, I told it to check md5 sum online and it returned around 23 entries, the one highlighted was "NTSC/J release". I then browsed to the SS.bin file and the 2 lines turned green meaning MD5 matched and I then said merge, which took another 2-3 minutes and then it said, everything succesful, burn using clonecd.
When I did the same to ind-to.iso, it returned 9 entries, default was "The Outfit - NTSC-USA". I left it at default and browsed to the SS.bin file but it still said red and MD5 did not match. I tried 3 other SS files I got from different sources all showed red. Then I changed the name in the top dropdown to find "The Outfit NTSC Proper-Ind". As soon as I selected this it turned green. Also when I hit merge, after 2 seconds it said successful, burn using clonecd.
Now what I want to know why is the difference in the 2 isos and why 1 takes 3 minutes to merge while other doesnt take any time at all.

no idea, but it was the same for me with ninety-nine nights with the IND.SS, it only took seconds to patch whilst others have taken minutes. If it worhs i wouldn't worry about it to much

because one is ripped diffrent.
The xtreme way thakes 1 second and the other method needs to rebuilt the whole iso again thats why it thakes few mins as most games are 8GB+

That's bullshit , no surprise. WxRipper style (with video partition already included) takes a few seconds. Xtreme style on the other hand has to be padded out with blank data. Most games are about 6 - 7GB

hey azzman, can you help me with the problem in the other thread. So if I open an image file in ssmerger and after calculation if it defaults to wxripper style then I shouldnt change it to xtrmeme right? How do I know how the video partition is ripped from the ss file?
So when I opened rad-kameo.360 and browsed to the ntsc ss bin file, I should have left it at wxripper and should not have changed it to xtreme style. So why didnt it work when I left everything at default. My understanding was if u have a valid ss file(that turns both md5 values green), you just hit merge and then burn using clonecd, shouldnt have had to change anything, right???

Thats right , dont change it. If the information people have submited is correct , then when everything turns green it should work fine. Well this hasent always happened for me , i had 2 different SS files for NNN different checksum, both had a listing that could be selected and turned green. One didnt work. With luck releases from now on will have the SS injected , i just dont 100% trust SS merge to tell me the SS is ok. Anyone can submit a bad SS and say it works i think
