Platform(s): PC
Genre: Simulation
Developer: Bohemia Interactive
Release Date: Q4 2011

Take your first steps towards mastering rotor-wing flight across a massive range of enjoyable challenges, or create your own missions using the powerful easy-to-use mission editor.

Take to the air above two beautifully rich and expansive environments, based upon real-world North American and South Asian terrain-data.

Take on cutting-edge technology, helicopters modelled in stunning detail, a large-scale, open-world sandbox and authentic flight dynamics...

Take On Helicopters!

Bohemia Interactive´s CEO, Marek Spanel, explains: "Our military simulators from the Arma series have been providing infinite fun and creativity for nearly a decade now. Helicopters were always an important part of our games and we feel it is time to give them some proper polish in a dedicated project. Take On Helicopters is an accessible yet very authentic helicopter game, which challenges players to prove their flight skills in the rich environments of North America and South Asia.”

In the latest instalment of Bohemia Interactive's line-up of immersive games, the player takes on the role of a civilian helicopter pilot. Harry Larkin's aviation business has fallen on tough times. Built up over decades, it's now only days away from closure. His sons face an uncertain future, struggling to save the company their father spent his whole life building. Together, they must take on contracts and competitors; together, they take on helicopters!

Key Features:

* High fidelity flight dynamics modelling
* Richly modelled helicopters & cockpits
* Expansive & detailed environments
* Powerful & intuitive mission editor
* Multiplayer in co-op & competitive scenarios

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

As a long time Arma player I can tell you that we have been asking for a more realistic flight model for a long time.I doubt they have tweaked it just for this.Helicopters speed up too fast and take forever to slow down in the arma model. If they seriously want to simulate helicopters I hope they have tweaked the flight models.

Ooooh, I will definitely have to reserve judgement on this one as there is absolutely nothing realistic about the helicopter handling in Arma. I won't even fly the helicopters in the current "sims" as there is nothing realistic about them. Black Shark has more realism than most but I don't necessarily want to fly a combat helicopter in a sim. The DCS guys should just do a full blown flight simulator. We'll see how the Bohemia guys do I guess. If they pull it off it'll be an instant buy for me.

I'm just hoping that the new Microsoft Flight addresses the huge shortcoming in their helicopter modelling. Somehow I really doubt it though.

Maybe this game will make up for that. But somehow I doubt this game will have a large area to fly around in. And by large, I mean the whole country w/ airports. It'll be interesting to see new info as it comes out though!

new ms flight? were the team not all let go if i remember.. they also stated they would not be returning to that type of sim quality in the future. But did make note they would be doing flight stuff but i guess that meant more arcade.

i dont get it, windows live ? seriously. this has nothing to do with proper simulation as up to fsx... it just can not....

Ill believe it when i see it... vatsim would have 4 billion little 10 year olds on it trying to contact tower while playing rebecca black in the background on full bore!

pfft ...

Exactly.... they can keep they're stinking new flight line it will be derpafied to the max..

And to be quite honest, the fs9 with all the high end addons was still the best bet for quality and framerate... one really did not need anymore than that with that sim...

and with todays pc specs about im sure u could really load it up and have a great sim experience.

i tried it long time ago, for my liking mr fucking up himself takes way to long putting out updates due to the "i want to be a one man band dev" Razz

you know what he is like ffs -Very Happy

xplane is good on its feel of flying a real aircraft its alot better than ms's stuff to behonest, but its just not immersive with its lack of graphical whoring Very Happy

the problem with x-plane is that it runs terrible on lower end systems (like mine). If you've got a low frame rate you also have a low "framerate" for the physics calculations making it very hard to control the aircraft. Not to mention, flying helicopters in x-plane sucks nearly as bad as in FSX.

The more I think about it the more I think that this is simply going to be them taking the helicopters from Arma and making that into a missions based game but with "realism."

I'll give them one thing so far though. It looks pretty good. And they got the sound right for the 500 which is more than most do Very Happy

Hopefully they release a demo

The flight models should be fine.
I've heard that Bohemia interactive and Eagle Dynamics (Lockon, DCS : BlackShark, A10) might work together on this game (and, why not, others).

Looks promising !

Anyhow, the fact there will be a powerfull mission editor say it all.
We already know what it is possible to do with Arma's editor.
