Created by Akella this is Sea Dogs 2, but with a new name to ride on the "Caribbean" wave. However it keeps it's freeform gameplay so popular with the original "Sea Dogs"
I'm looking forward to this, spent many wee hours at the helm of ships in Sea Dogs which still has a very active modding community at http://www.piratesahoy.com/ alot of the modders there will most certainly continue their great work here.
Next weekend people!

This is acctualy Sea Dogs 3.
Sea Dogs 2 was called "Pirates of the Carriebean". a great game.

I tried the beta of this new game, and it's great.
But since it was a early beta, it was missing most of the shit, so not mutch to do in the game.
But the fullversion'll be great!

I hate you.

You got it wrong matey, bethesda was only the publisher of that, Akella was the developer, so this game is it's successor.

Ah, guess I would have known that if I'd bothered to read a bit Laughing Anyway, good to know - I just hope the land action is a little better than PoTC.

Yeah PoTC was one of my all time fav pirate games, but everyone else hated it it seems =D
It had pretty crappy on-land controls and stuff, but not THAt bad, but the ocean gameplay was just magnificent, especially the battles :=)

Been playing the polish version with english translation mod, it's a really good game, although the quests are lacking I hear this will be fixed in the english version. That said the game is a great mix of privateering and pirating in beautifull shaded graphics.
The game isn't as much questing as it's about building your charecter meaning you build reputation with the various factions, you build up your fleet " you can have several ships in your fleet and you can give your captains of the ships orders in combat" you can hire new crew and train your current to get better.
You can use your fleet to conquer towns and forts, either for your own benefit or for your faction; "pirates, french, spanish, english".
The game is packed with small 'touches' like for instance when cannonballs hit the hulls of yours or enemies ships they make holes in them, or if grapes hit your mast causing it to splinter and fall down on the deck, it's obvious the development team has spent most of the time fine tuning the combat experience - one can almost smell the gunpowder hanging in the air, the salty sea splashing against the tar ridden hull of your ship.
I will be buying this game Very Happy

Does this game also have a shitty non-mouse supporting bullshit console interface like POTC did? In that game you couldn't use the mouse at ALL in most menus, and you had to use the keyboard almost exclusively, because those greedy cockfags at Bethesda sold out to Disney and Micro$oftcocks and released the game on the fagbox first. And not only could you not use the mouse, the game didn't support numerical keys either. Whenever you wanted to buy something (let's say 1000 units of rum) you actually had to click the buy button 1000 times. You couldn't just type 1000 into the box and press enter to buy 1000 units at once, but you actually had to fucking CLICK A MILLION FUCKING TIMES TO DO BASIC SHIT! So is this game the same, or is it more PC friendly instead of faggotbox adapted?

Console controls really killed PoTC. The watered-down gameplay would have at least been tolerable.

Interesting - sea combat is kind of tough to nail for developers it seems. Maybe it's just not possible to make something that's halfway realistic and still entertaining. I can only handle so much tacking against the wind or turning up the beam or whatever the hell they call it.

its 1C Company not realy Atari. 1C always uses SF as its .ru developer/publisher. .ru Name = Corsairs 3 and protected by sf 3.7 and sffs so i guess atari just used the same shit cause it was already paid for and atari could save money.
