Quite weird...the game simply won't load. Double clicking coj.exe returns no feedback...no error messages, lockups, bsods or whatever. Obviously it has nothing to do with asr since it doesn't even get to protection checking. Dx and drivers are up to date but that's too has nothing to do with it. Confused

U mean that even if u don't use asr but directly run the main coj executable, u don't have the securom check which reports an eror ?

Yep, I don't even get to protection checking. No errors whatsoever as if the executable is corrupted or something. The thing is the image is working great, so I can't understand why would the file drop dead on me (Coj.exe is 3.39mb). And my PC does meet minimum requirements.

This might be a shot in the dark, but it might be a conflict with a critical Windows update (KB917422). When I had it installed, I could not run FEAR/FEAR Combat and the same thing happened with the Just Cause Demo. Basically when I ran either of these games nothing happened at all. When I uninstalled the update, everything worked fine.

I am not sure if this goes for Call of Juarez, but you might give it a shot if you have tried everything else.

I have this update installed and everything works fine. But I believe you - it's not the first time that MS fucks up the compatibility of some games/apps with Windows updates. This should definitely not happen!! It's really poor when an update makes your computer work worse than before.

Who would have thought about such an obscure fix?! Damn it, it worked. Very Happy
I shudder when I think how much time you've saved me in the future with other games that might have the same problem. Thanks.
