Okay first of all make sure you're patched with the full 1.3 patch. Then go to your bios and disable one of your lanports. I'm pretty sure your motherboard will have two.
You'll find the game will work if you don't play on Punk Buster servers. But as these aren't ranked it's pointless.

You have punkbuster installed trust me that's the problem.

What kind of mobo. I'm guessing an Nforce 4?

Disable the nvidia lanport. You should only have the yukon port enabled.

Disable nvidia lanport? Wtf, never had any problem with that one. Using nVidia one for xbox frp transfers and yukon for my DSL connection.

As for punkbuster go to http://www.evenbalance.com/ and download the updater for BF2 (or http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php there)

If you're not having problems with it unlike Razacka2 and I. Then you wouldn't have needed to look for a solution.

Np I'm happy to help.

Okay swich off your PC and reboot. As it's doing the Power On Self test (POST). Keep pressing the Delete key. Note, press the delete key and not the back space key.

That should get you into your bios. Navigate through and you should see the option to disable the lan port.

What Motherboard do you have?

I only found Nvidia mac lan and i wasn't sure if i am supposed to disable that one so i didn't. and i didnt find any yukon lan port either. is it the nvidia mac lan i hafto disable. because i cant find any other nividia lan thingy. and what is the consenquenses if i disable the wrong ?

edit: when i get on the comp after crashing in bf2, my comp is over 40 degrees in celsius so it might be overheating, how can i solove this?

edit2: i tried disabling the nvidia mac lan but it still doesn't work, i downloaded pbsetup and installed it and downloaded all patches and stuff. but i still dont got any punkbuster icon or anything on my shortcut or no punkbuster installed. i downloaded the patcher thingy

Sorry I've been working.
No I doubt its the temp. If it works in single player mode and not the multi player, then it has to be the nvidia. Check to see how many ports you have on the back of your pc for the lan.
You won't have an icon for Punkbuster.

The RJ45 port. How many does your PC have?
If you're using a router by pass it and connect your modem to the pc directly so we can eliminate that.
This pc has one port highlighted.

They're RJ 45 ports. You HAVE to disable the Nvidia one. Make sure the cable to your modem is plugged into the other. Then you shouldn't have any probs. Just bypass the router for now.

Well just to test to make sure it isn't the router. Try using the pc with the nvidia port off
first. Make sure the cable is plugged into the other port too or you won't get a connection.

Depends. Only one of them is working now seeing as you've disabled the nvidia port in the bios. So if the cable is in the wrong port it won't get connectivity.

What's happening is that punkbuster is trying to send info through the nvidia port. It can't so it gets confused. This crashes the pc.

Get this:
