the problem is that games aren't really reviewable by numerical standards
while films generally appeal to people roughly the same way, games vary wildly
best way i've found is to find a review as verbose as possible and focus only on the negative aspects as that's the only thing that matters in the end
games are only as good as their biggest flaws, and if that matters to you
like the absolute linearity made every game of the 'universally acclaimed' call of duty franchise unplayable horse manure for me

I really think game reviews are something personal. Even if a large group of reviewers dislikes linearity for example, dropping down the average rating, you might like it (I do in CoD).
What I prefer, is find a single reviewer who looks at stuff as objectively as possible, who names everything he dislikes, so you can decide what to do with that information. Better, perhaps, would be to find one who has your views on things, likes the thing you do (kinda hard in my case, to find a reviewer who doesn't mind grindyness, which I do enjoy from time to time in RPGs, or random battles, or both enjoys free-roaming games as well as linear intense stuff in their own way, like I do).

Except that the whole site is filled with idiots.
The best thing to do is find a couple of reviewers you seem to agree with.

Ofcourse reviews are personal - thats why I want lots of reviews to compare with (best is when there is a list over what score the guy writing the review has given other games).

reliable? no such thing. everyone has their own opinions on whats good and whats not, so really ANY site is as reliable as the next one... off the top of my head, maybe amazon? atleast you can cross-check individuals reviews....
but really...face it, if nothing else, better the devil you know, right? just come here for your reviews
