In Superman Returns: The Videogame, you explore and protect the truly living city of Metropolis — one that is not only expansive (with 80 sq miles and over 9,000 buildings), but also changes dynamically with you as you affect gameplay. Citizens will run away in terror from newly-erupting danger and also exit their cars to cheer and snap photos as you fly overhead to save them. Superman may be invincible, but Metropolis is not. Player choice matters, as Metropolis' destruction will affect your ability to progress. You must face the internal conflict facing Superman at every turn: will you pause your pursuit of super villains to stop a massive tornado sweeping through the city and save its civilians? Every decision made is critical to Metropolis' existence and can affect the collateral damage meter, which ultimately keeps the player in the game.

Watched the videos, looks pretty cool. The 360 version anyway.

Played it for ps2.
Graphics are incredibly shoddy. Cant get around the fact that superman can just die for no reason.
Hope the 360 versions better.

Mi62, how on earth did you play it for ps2? as far as Im aware they havent released anything for current gen, not even screens and youve played it? hmmmm.

Also superman's health regenerates, it's really for him to die. I think he's chatting shit.

Superman doesnt even have a health bar Im told, the city of Metropolis does. How this will function in the actual game I dont know yet, but I can understand it. Superman should just be able to stand still in the middle of a battlefield and not take damage, unless there is some kryptonite involved. So hopefully this works out.. or Im afraid no developer will ever want to touch the Man of Steel again.

Well, didn't realise I would cause a stir.
I have played an early build of the ps2 version. Superman has a powerbar that gets drained when he does stuff, for anybody who doesnt believe me (and who will thus be proven wrong when the game is released) one of the early missions involves a meteor attack which strikes buildings, as superman you have to put out the fires the meteors cause with your "frost breath".
Its all part of the tutorial. You fly around normally then you can fly at super speed.
If you dont believe me. Fine. Couldnt really care.
BTW, the city is actually a nice size, extremely similar to spiderman 2 I thought.

Believe me when I say Ive followed this game for the best part of a year, you have not played any version, ESPECIALLY the ps2 version. If anything it would be the 360 version. No current gen demos/press demo's/review builds/early builds have been released to anyone. EVER. The only thing you could have had the tinyest possibilty of playing was the old demo at E306, end of story.
The info you provided can be taken from any of the developer interviews from the community press event. |

Man, your so sore, what the hell is up.
I HAVE played the PS2 version, and let me tell you it is SHOCKING graphically, the texture resolution on the ground just out of town most notably the worst I saw.
And now you represent the entire forum! AMG! AND you know everything about the game and the whereabouts of every build in the world. Dude you are a busy man.
When the PS2 version does in fact come out, and the graphics are hurrendous as I have said, in particular the textures (the particle effects on the meteors where *shudder* too). I hope you remember this and realise you are infact wrong, and infact did not know as much as you think you do.
This is my final post on the matter, If I do get the opporuntity to play it again, I will smile at the thought you are not.I now let this go and wash my hands of this, I suggest you do the same.

Why would anybody who knows anything about video games follow this crap for a year? Everyone knows that this game will be crap, and if it's really the case that you have been following this one closely then it does anything but add weight to your arguement.
Maybe the guy has played an early demo, maybe not. Do we really care? It's certaily nothing worth getting your knickers in a twist over. Now, can we get back on topic?

There have been good superhero games in the past, "Hulk Ultimate destruction" comes to mind. So you can't just dismiss this game without having played it. Which obviously no-one in this thread has.

I thought that the Hulk was rubbish aswell actually. Well maybe not rubbish, but certainly not good either.

Confirming that he was assuming that the game was going to be poor and then going on to say that he had been following the game closely for a year..so which is it?
Anyway, this was never intended to be an attack on either of the guys, I just wanted them to get back on topic which obviously did not happen as here we are still discussing it 5 or 6 posts later.
