Firstly, no need for the red, large, bold text.. seriously, it makes it harder to read and wont make anyone want to answer you post anymore.. *removes it for your own sake..*..
As far as I am aware vista is DX9 compatible but with it will come an update to DX making it version 10. No cards at this time support DX10 (that I am aware off).. and it will mean the need to upgrade.. However DX10 can be emulated on DX9 cards, so all is not lost.. it simply means a performance drop!
Im sure someone will correct whatever I have wrote that is not accurate.

I was thinking of buying a GF 7950GX2 but I've been reading up on DX10 and It's due out q1 2007 right? So it would be a waist to give out 600 euros on a card that doesn't have DX10 support when it's going to be out soon.
Has ATI or Nvidia given any news about DX10 cards coming out soon?

It will, DirectX is backward compatible. It will still work, it's just the card won't support the new functionality of DX10 - this won't stop you running anything when DX10 is installed, until the first games come up that use DX10 specific functionality as an mandatory part of the graphics, at which point you'll need a new card if you want to run them. IIRC, Crysis will be the first one that requires a DX10 compatible card.

You won't notice a performance drop in vista (using aero) and a dx9 card, aero doesn't use any dx10 specific functions if vista doesn't detect a dx10 capable card and it'll render just fine on either (of course the newer dx10 capable cards will be faster than what we have today more pipelines and mhz etc.. thats beside the point when rendering aero though)

Vs. What?
Linux? One distro didn't let me even get to the install screen because I had USB2 devices (a fucking mouse) plugged in. Many take way too long to boot. They have terrible third party support. etc. etc.
With that said, what the hell is the big deal with all the ANTI MS shit. Grow up. Different people with different needs will be better suited for different OSs. I find it utterly ridiculous how single-minded people get when talking about operating systems, it's a fking joke.

u mean '98,omg that was nightmare |
98 wasn't a nightmare if you came from 95. I will say the most unstable systems ever made by Microsoft war 95 and ME.

Nah, the most unstable and buggy version ever was Windows NT 3.5. It was really crap and prematurely released, hence the quick update to 3.51 a few months later.
