Forgot where I read it but the guy who wrote the stories and what not is the one directing this? I wouldn't quote me on that. I think it's more about finding the right actors rather than grabbing the famous people and throwing them into rolls they don't belong (like that won't happen)

If you look closer at the poster it says something like "Written & Directed by Fergie Gibson".

Haven't you seen Sam Lake? He is Max Payne (in the second they modelled it after another guy, though, but honestly, Sam Lake rocks).

While Madsen does look cool, he does not look like Payne 
You can't just go with acting ability on something like this, you need someone which looks like Payne and has charisma.
But all of this means zilch seeing as it is a fan film.

You need someone who can sport a cheesy hawian shirt with a leather jacket, fly through the air john woo style and is a good shot. That's all in the acting. You don't really need looks. Look at the punisher. Tommy Jane looks nothing like Frank. But with convincing enough acting he pulled it off well. 
Aaron Eckhart would be fucking awesome as Payne.
