FOOTBALL MANAGER 2007
- Official web page: LINK
- Publisher: Sega
- Developer: Sigames
- Media type and size: PC CD-ROM
- Genre: Sports Management Simulation
- Release date: 20/10/2006
- Story/Description:
Quote: |
Feeder Clubs - Brand new to Football Manager 2007, and one of the most requested features is the addition of feeder clubs to the game. This new addition works in all the ways you would expect it to in real life. You can establish your club as the small team who receives loan players from a larger club or a large club looking for support getting your youngsters match experience by loaning them out. Have the first option on players from clubs, and schedule pre-arranged friendlies each season by simply asking your board for a feeder relationship and choose from the list they compile.
Youth Revamp - A complete revamp of youth teams sees full youth squads for each team that has a youth set-up
User Friendly - New easier to use default skin, along with hints and tips throughout the game, and an improved tutorial. In addition to better feedback from your assistant manager and scouts as well as lots more media, customisation and multiple row selection
Scouting Revamp - A complete revamp of the scouting system inside the game leads to more Information about players and teams being made available to managers, as well as a more realistic methodology for player scouting. This system allows scouts to grow and improve their knowledge-base of the world's football players.
Player Interaction - You can now talk to any player in the world via the media. Player interaction allows you to tap up other teams stars or see if players will buckle under the pressure. An effective manager must use the media as a motivational tool - why not praise your own players in many different ways or shout at them for loss of form?
Team Talks - For more varied ways to talk to your team, SI have worked hard to deliver vastly improved team talks at half and full time. Not only this, but pre-match team talks will now be making their first appearance in Football Manager - so you can send your team out onto the pitch with a specific briefing.

Just to clarify (as I know I'd run a mile if it wasn't); the game uses a 2D match engine. Anything else and you wouldn't get the high fidelity, realism and depth that is the hallmark of the Football Manager series.

The new game takes a bit of getting used to as usual and there is a lot of little things to play around with. So far so good

do some research before you post moron. first, this is just a demo. second, they only use logos and pictures, if the club or the "researchers" sent them, if not, they are not included. it takes about 10 minutes to put the logos and pictures in yourself, if you are not a complete idiot like you. and third, fm was never about visual things, only about depth and realism, if you take graphics over gameplay, go back to your fps and jack off to princess leah or lara croft!!!

Used to play Football Manager for many many hours before, but until they implement 3-D highlights Fifa Manager gets my attention. I know it has worse database and other problems but seeing your players in great 3-D graphics is worth it insteed of those insect-playing highlights Footbal Manager has. For gods sake, it´s 2006....

I imagine different resolutions fuck up the interface, particularly if it's not designed to be played in a widescreen enviroment. You can change the resolution though. Try tweaking my command line settings; --fullscreen_width=1280 --fullscreen_height=1024

It's the opposite for me. Until they actually produce a 3D engine capable of actually presenting and making a management game worth my attention I'm going to avoid the likes of FIFA manager and LMA manager. I've played them though and I'll tell you; if you find the predictable, linear and wholly unrealistic gameplay exhibited through the 3D engine of FIFA manager acceptable then you clearly aren't someone who'd appreciate Football Manager in the first place! Watch 1 match of Football manager and you've not seen anything. Watch 1 match of FIFA manager and you've seen everything (and it's not pretty).

There is always something to improve. I'm sure they'll come up with more and more stuff to add and tweak.

I really can't wait for this. I'm already bored with the demo, is there any wait to play it longer than those 6 months?

Yeah the demo is always crap to play because nothing is worthwhile unless you can play a career really. I've already pre-ordered this, fantastic game.
How is everybody managing team talks though. I think this is a bit difficult to understand. In fact I think a lot of the text is difficult to understand. For example when is say NO COMMENT, IT'S PURE SPECULATION it just says no comment, as if I didn't respond. But I wanted to say I don't comment on pure speculation (because that is what it was) and I wanted my decision to be reflected (The reason is that it's possible to just respond to all speculation as if it is true; i.e; you are going to sign Ronaldinho??!!? err... oh yeah!!).
Umm, anyway rant over, but the text not making sense applies to a lot of things really, but it's just a minor thing.

OH, I don't know. I play in bigger resolution and it's fine for me but I don't have widescreen (for this reason). I know XBox 360 is widescreen-able though so it should be possible. Check their forums!

From the feedback I get from the Asst manager the players either aren't listening or don't understand the team talks, although my team were doing OK. I also find it diffcult to sign the quality of players that I want, and I'm not going to spend cash just for the sake of it.It's virtaully impossible to get some of them, eventhough the club I'm managing is big.
It's the same with the lower league teams when trying to get players on loan, with players dropping 2 divisions rather than 1 divson to the club I'm managing, fucking ridiculous in my opinion.
Overall though there are some good new features like the icons at the bottom of the screen, the improved scouting and the feeder system. Just looking forward to the full release now so I can continiue my main game.
