is there something wrong with my youtubez, or is that video running at a stupid low framerate. its really upsetting my stomach a little bit... for such a simple game to be running that horribly? yeesh.
But it's one of those games i couldn't play on PC.
Instead i would rather enjoy them playing on a mobile device. Too bad i don't play on mobile device either anymore.
At least this one is trying something new. It's probably just a few hours long, which is fine as in it doesn't outstay its welcome.
I tried Talos Principle, but the (initial) puzzles were way too bland. Heard good things about it though. But got some 'The Witness' vibes with it: same repeating puzzles against, but with a nice backdrop.
I recently played Myst again, out of misery for a good puzzle game
Obra Dinn is the best puzzle/mystery in years to me. Ticket all the boxes, and more (great music! even unexpected Lovecraftian vibes)
Feel free to recommend similar games (with actually clever but never impossible puzzles, integrated in the environment/story and such).

I would recommend sticking with The Talos Principle at least until puzzles get a bit more challenging, if only for the storytelling and philosophy behind it which are surprisingly remarkable, and there's a good dose of mystery too that really spices things up.
As for The Witness, that's a very deceiving beast. On the surface, it definitely looks and feels like a classic (almost annoying) game where you just solve puzzles in series like homework, but a few hours in you suddenly realize that there is a much bigger picture out there. Every single asset/design/piece of the map has a reason to exist, forming a giant environmental puzzle where all the minor riddles are positioned in a Matroska-like way (can't say anything more without spoiling it ). I was honestly surprised by it since I was not expecting so many layers hidden in its design. Blow's previous 2D time-mechanics-based game (Braid) is very much worth playing as well, it's clever and never banal. Same as FEZ, despite its developer being a genuine pear.
If you like Myst, then you should give a try to Obduction (it's from the same devs). It has many elements from the classic formula, including environmental puzzles and beautiful vistas. The exploration gets too backtracking heavy near the end, but it's definitely worth playing. Quern is good too, a bit on the short side but still unique and very Myst-esque.
Another game that I strongly recommend is Antichamber, possibly one of the most brilliantly brain-fucking rides available that forces you to think outside the box. Among the recent-ish ones I'd say QUBE 2 is a very pleasant addition, it's a well-made Portal 2 clone that merges puzzle rooms with atmospheric setting and story.

Thanks for the recommendations
I'll start with Quern, perhaps even The Witness
Obduction was a nice game, but indeed, the backtracking made it a bit cumbersome.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
