Review : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0386741/
Movie site : http://www.renaissance-lefilm.com/accueil.htm
Trailer: http://www.apple.com/trailers/miramax/renaissance/trailer1/

Plot Outline: In 2054, Paris is a labyrinth where all movement is monitored and recorded. Casting a shadow over everything is the city's largest company, Avalon, which insinuates itself into every aspect of contemporary life to sell its primary export -- youth and beauty. In this world of stark contrasts and rigid laws the populace is kept in line and accounted for.

Fantastic CGA movie with eng subs 10/10

yeah but if u look at the mouth movements in the uk trailer, the english fits the mouth movements, and the french never did, leading me to believe it was made in english, but by, and in, france, hence the early french release with french audio... so yeah, wanting the english dub has nothing to do with desiring subs over dubs, in this case, i simply am waiting for the intended audio for this great film Very Happy

This movie actually is dubbed in french, while the original english track was removed for some reason.

yeah as i said, it was filmed in english (most likely for mass appeal) but it was made by french people, so it was released in france first, with french audio. the french dvd only has french audio, hence no eng dub till wider release Very Happy

yeah gits 2 has a dub, i ripped it myself and have a nice shiny english dub. figured it would be too hard to find online given that i dont believe the yanks have a hold of it, only nz and aussie.

appleseed wasnt bad when it came to the style (cell shaded 3d), and the action. but the bits in between really dragged on and the dialogue was a bit stupid.

but it hands down has one of the BEST dvd cases ive ever seen! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

didnt u read what i said? i said it had great action and style, but for an 'action' film, it had too many slow bits in it, which i wouldn't mind, except if you take it as an action/thriller, it falls short in the dialogue department. im not ragging on it, just saying its really good, not excellent, thats all. hell, i bought the flamin dvd, jeez!!!

Saw this in the theatre when it was released here. It was only released with french audio so i suposed that was the original version. Usually you can choose if you want to see the dubbed version or the original version in the theatre. wasn't the case for this one.

I've had some mixed feelings about it. The style and idea were good but the story itself is very boring, the backgrounds are pretty "empty" and the only detail you see in the environment are product placements for Citroën and Coca-Cola. i have no problem with product placement when it's not that obvious Smile

9/10 for visuals

3/10 for boring story (appleseed was much better Smile)

Nice movie. Although the ending was a bit less powerful than the beggining/mid of the movie.

Very unique CG. Much more pleasing to look at, than movies in normal color, but shot in complete darkness

Severance. I didn't see the movie. But I recognize the actors and the bus from the trailer. I hear the movie's quite gory and quite funny. Smile
