Delve into 15 rich, story-driven missions featuring a cast of characters who will interact with real historic figures and participate in events that took place during that primitive time.
Each of the three Native American civilizations, including the Iroquois Confederacy and the Sioux Nation, boast buildings that reflect their culture's architectural style and a distinct approach to their Home City feature. The expansion pack also features enhancements to existing European civilizations, with new Home City content, more merciless mercenaries and better ways to look at your card deck. Use the improved random maps in unique locations in the Americas and additional native allies and units to win control over all the land.

Is it just me, or was AoE2 100 times more fun than AoE3? Atleast I think so. I might give this expansion a go anyway - but I doubt Ill get into it as I did with AoE2

It was, but I think the "problem" is that since AOE 2 there has been so many good rts' we expect a lot more from AOE 3.
Also because of that fucked up Age of Mythology that came out when AOE3 should have, piece of crap on a stick!
AOE games are just outdated really and what made the old one fun was the fact that there was nothing like it, tons of different units with different stats for each side, Vikings with healing, Samurai with big swords, cataphrats and so on.
Now there are 20 rts that offer the same.
Then comes out AOE3, extremely limited sides, few things to choose from, it goes from being a side/superunit to a spam-mass-units of the same type as your opponent, spam cannons, see who wins.
No the only truly unique RTS's I have seen in ages are the Dawn of War games (which im looking ENORMEOUSLY forward to getting the Dark Crusade expansion for) and now Relic's latest Company of Heroes, again with new creations for the RTS genre.
Intelligent ai for your own units, no pesants to harvest, unit leveling meaning something, efficient means to counter anything, including heavy tank rushes and so on and so forth.
For me, Relic saved the RTS genre in the last few years

Why do people hate AOM so much? I actually had fun with that game.
But I agree AOE2 was alot more fun then AOE3. So I am not really looking forward to this.

AOM had a shitty system to create units. An elephant would take 6 population slots where as a normal warrior 1-2. What's the purpose? I paid 3 times more to create that elephant...

I love AoE3 because of the AMAZING random maps you get with the amazing cliffs and all that shit.
And the amazing havoc physics just takes it to the next level.
So what is it that i dont like about it?
Well, the simple fact that it was designed to be what it is, and i dont like what it is.
If there is a game where you progress trough ages i want it to be like Empire Earth, alot of ages. In AoE3 you hardly notice any difference between the 5 ages to be honest :/

Exactly, would be nice if they took everything from AoE2 and put it into AoE3's engine with its physics and random maps. Thats what I was expected when AoE3 was first released...instead we got a very limited game with (as you just said) almost no difference between the ages.

The reason I "hate" (I don't hate it, it just was not the game we wanted, AOE2 made better) was that the game was no longer about units and tactics, it was about spitting out Myth units which would then wipe out everyone and everything.

The fact that it had some half baked fantasy campaign rather than the historical basis of AOE2 detracted a lot from the SP campaigns, IMO.

Did we play the same game? AOE2 was nothing but cookie cutter units on each side except for 1 unique unit with slightly different tech trees which occasionally gave a unit to one side and not another, unless you were playing another nation that had that unit.
AOM and AOE3 were a step away from that cookie cutter shit. I Though AOE2 was the worst RTS ever. I couldn't possibly fathom how anyone enjoyed it.

Lol, it's the sane games, actually, just with better graphics. The problem is we remember AOE2 as a much better game, because we loved it so much when it came out. We don't like AOE3 as much, because of what we hoped it would be, and because many RTS games set the standard so high, that the basic formula of AOE3 just didn't cut it. Great graphics aside, gameplay was just plain old. If you were ot play AOE2 these days as a new product, you'd think of it the same.

Not really, I played AoE2 not so long again and its a really big difference between the 2nd and the 3rd. Tbh, its like two totally different games As somebody pointed out earlier, its all about legendary units more than strategy

Judging by the demo, it's the same as AOE3... Felt no difference playing with ger. or the natives. They even had the same units. I guess I'm spoiled by the diversity of the 7 races of WHM40K DoW.

If it was multi, it woulda said multi. If it says german, it's german only.

Is there really no protection? I thought the german version had SmartE atleast. CD-Checks then?
Guess I'll wait a day or so and see if a crack pops up.

This is great news! I love the detail Ensemble Studios put into this great AOEIII game and now War Chiefs. I have been looking forward to this for a long time. DOW is an incredible RTS too, but this is OLD SCHOOL! I love it! Pretty soon this type of RTS will cease to exist and you will all be missing it saying bring back the old school RTS. Enjoy it while it lasts!
