Oh yeah, gone gold today!
Quote: | Atari and Obsidian announce that Neverwinter Nights 2 is gold, and the D&D RPG sequel is Due in North American stores on October 31 and in Europe on November 3:
NEW YORK, October 17, 2006 - Atari, Inc (Nasdaq: ATAR) and Obsidian Entertainment today announced that the highly-anticipated Neverwinter Nights 2 has gone gold and is on schedule to ship to stores nationwide on October 31 in North America and on November 3 in Europe. Neverwinter Nights 2, the sequel to BioWare Corp.'s best-selling and genre-defining role-playing game, is set in the DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Forgotten Realms universe created by Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS), and will transport players back to the embattled city of Neverwinter. DUNGEONS & DRAGONS is under license from the Hasbro Properties Group, the intellectual property development arm of Hasbro. Neverwinter Nights 2 will be released for the Windows platform.
Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, Neverwinter Nights 2 features a new, extensive single-player game with deep character development and a powerful new toolset that provides players with unprecedented ability to create their own universes, quests and storylines
"Neverwinter Nights 2 has been an incredible game to produce, as we have aimed from the beginning to develop an immersive gaming experience that will satisfy both the RPG and modding communities," said Feargus Urquhart, Obsidian Entertainment's CEO. "Now that Neverwinter Nights 2 has gone gold, we are proud to say we are delivering a game that should exceed fans' expectations."
The Neverwinter Nights franchise has sold more than two million copies worldwide, is translated into 10 languages, sold in more than 40 countries and features one of the largest and most active fan communities in all of gaming. To date, fans of the franchise, which includes Neverwinter Nights, Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide and Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark, have created nearly 4,000 modifications to the original game using the original, award-winning Aurora Toolset. A more robust toolset will be included with the release of Neverwinter Nights 2.

Well most people don't like the D&D Rules in CRPG... Perhaps that's why you think it sucks. I haven't been playing close attention to the game development but I know that when the first one came out it was a looooong time before an interesting world reached the roleplay servers.

Maybe he doesn't like the hack 'n slash aspect. It's actually very simplistic but I like it. Many people don't like these sort of games.

Tbh, i dont know what all the fuss about bugs in KOTOR2 is about, i brought it and loved it. It was a bit too similiar with kotor 1 on the main story but beyond that i loved it.
It is a RPG where your choices does matter for the party members and the game endings, whereas other so called RPGs only give u choices at the very end and u basicly choose which video of the three endings to watch. . .
Sorry but i love RPGs that have substance with alot of "quests/missions" which do impact the story or the zone they play out in, and most of all have some kind of followup maybe. Fallout series and Baldurs gate series were the best imo, but after that everything seems to be a Diablo copy with less story content and more gfx concentration along side with too early releases.
Anyways think NWN 2 will be better then Kotor2 on the bug issues and hopefully on the story without the Star Wars universe restrictions?
Hopefully we'll see a new game series from Obsidian in the future where they can make their "own" games. If im right Bioware was the first on both Kotor 1 and NWN 1.

No we're talking about Atari who's sole purpose is to ass -rape the D&D license. They're cut from the same cloth.

KOTOR II = UNFINISHED GAME
Its obvious that the last scenes on the lava planet (its name escapes me) are completley unfinished, you just rush through and kill a bunch of guys, no story interaction whatsoever. That, and the ending is the same no matter which dialogue you end up choosing.
Hopefully Obsidian actually bothers to finish NWN 2 instead of just tying up loose ends and slapping it in a box.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.
