Huh .. yeah i mean games expansions ..

i guess it's bad thing to have .. cuz they could make new game why they would do expansions !!

making new version better then have 2 games in one .. i have that cuz when new expansion come you have to install old game then install expansion ..

so i hate it so much to do that .. vote if you have other idea ..

i voted yes but i really have a mixed feeling about this. if the expansion is done right, then its a good idea. if its not, then the expansion bombs. Some examples that I like are the Baldur Gate expansions, and the Blizzard games (Brood War, Diablo 2 EXP, Frozen Throne etc.)

I wouldn't vote a yes or no. The only expansions I really liked was for strategy games that added some extra stuff into the existing game. IMO the best 2 were AOEII Conquerors expansion and Zero hour for Generals. The rest are just a 'drain the milk cow' releases.

Not really. Its a god marketing trick though, more money and renewed interest in an old product.
I never really saw a good expansion, I mean something that made the game really feel new etc.
Battlefield SF and AF are good examples of above mentioned.

what if you don't the real game .. you only want to play the new one ..

for example the new sims .. they made it stand alone for the PS2

but for computer you have to get both of games ..

When you love a game, obviously you want more of that game, so, obviously I like expansions. It's very sad when you are bored of your favorites games. I will be happy if someone release expansions for years for my favorites games.

True - but I can partially understand why they keep making new ones. As long as they sell they have no real reason to stop with it imo.

Another good expansion is Dungeon Siege 2's expansion. I kind of liked that one (but I would prefer to see a Dungeon Siege 3 instead tbh). I think You can call the old d&d games expansions too..I mean like Pool Of Radiance came first..and then curse of the azure bonds and so on and so on..and you could use the same chars you had used in the previous version. Then again, you could also start from scratch so I guess its no real expansion after all Smile (Same with the Dragonlance Series)

I love XPs... adding more stuff to a good game in less than a year after release (at a cheaper price) is IMHO better than working on a sequel, which will not only cost more, but will also take longer to finish and with the risk of failiure, and often you just end up with the same content as in the first game, only with a bit better graphics
Of course you can't keep making a new XP every 6 months for 10 years, but for most games releasing 2-3 XPs is great

I'm not particularly fond of expansions or episodic formats, I prefer full games.

well i've mixed feelings about that. But i voted "yeah". Sometimes there are expansions that really improve the overall feeling for the game, enhance it overall- There are many good games like that- diablo2 LOD, warcraft 3 FT,starcraft BW. And lately the warhammer 40k dard crusade (well it's almost a different game but..) I especially love the expansions for RPG's. It's a way to longer the live of a game you like and continuing to develop your char

But in the other hand, lot of expansions are just milking the cow...sims 1/2, heroes 3/4..
I really don't like expansions that bring you more of the same without bringing really new content..

The expansions for HMM have always sucked imo... most of them only bring new campaigns rather than new multiplayer maps, units etc etc...

The problem with expasions are the expectations. People expect a totally different and new gaming experience, that's the problem. An expansion is nothing more than a simple addition to a game.

I do not like expansions because developers seem to make games deliberatly incomplete or short story campaign wise just to make yet more money it's not their fault if nobody payed for them they'd just have to make a better longer original game.

Being a graphics whore I say ,"no," because they rarely enhance the game engine (usually) with an expansion.I would rather they do a full blown sequel. BUT... there are some games where it's refreshing like Morrowind and hopefully Oblivion with the Knights who say NI expansion next month.Wink I think money grubbing EA over does it for sure. Battlefield 2 is a great game but people stop playing when they feel they need to buy all the packs or they won't be able to play in all servers. I like when EA adds to the series at the same time a patch comes out. That is a welcome treat. For the record i don't mind paying 10.00 or 1.35 etc it's not the money. I hate when someone says, "35 cents for armor!? How will I ever feed my kids?" It's 30 fukin 5 cents, eat it.

What's your opinion, we'd like to know.
