Gabe Newell also says "We'd never be able to do the stuff we're doing with the Half-Life 2 engine with for instance the Quake 3 or Doom III-engine. "(Even more advanced than the Doom III-engine, take that! )
He also says that they have a well established relation with John Carmack and the rest of ID.

There will absolutely be a Half-Life 3.

They'll have a long vacation after they ship HL2 and then they'll continue working on TF2 and start the work on CS2.

hah, yea I sure hope they've started on CS already, the source engine CS video they had running on E3 was mouth watering. TF2 is not vaporware? man I gave up on that as soon as I played Counterstrike for the first time.

watching the 2004 e3 video a couple of times a week and wet my pants every time...
This game should be even more hyped than it is at the moment... this game will be so huge.

I just wish the engine would have some kind of world damage system like Soldner, that would just be totally awesome...

Same here. I don't care what anyone says, HL2 is the most impressive FPS I have ever seen. I can't wait.

We haven't heard too much about that part where you get to control the alien things, but I remember it from an old video, it kicked ass.

And the part in the video where the guy throws a grenade, but he uses to the manipulator thing to pick it back up and throw it back at him, total fuckn ownage right there.

haha everytime i try to forget about this game someone brings it up again. and yes it WILL be fantastic. a renesance for gameplay. Smile

its going to be really cool to figure out how to use traps on enemies. hopefully that will bring some replay value as well, figuring out all cool stuff you can do on a level. if not all that was just some scripted mumbojumbo of course...

I remember watching a video where he fired an object at a wooden wall with the manipulator and it made a hole in the wall, looked awesome!

if this is from the last E3 video... the object he trow is a paint can, and it create some paint on the wall... though it was a hole first too but it's kinda impossible, or the map would have been created for it. Not all object will destroy like in solder (if not scripted).

This game have potential but the maps will need to be greatly done for the physic to work in them else it will be as static as HL 1

I know most of you will end up crying yourselves to sleep at night if you were to accept this as true, so I won't expect you to; but this game isn't going to live up to the hype (even though some of you seem to think there isn't enough of it).

I don't know dude, the videos looks absolutley incredible... granted they are only videos, but since they were all in-game I can see myself having months of fun with the physics engine alone. Honestly I don't see what can go wrong, knock on wood.

I agree, the game looks to good. From the videos its clear this is not a new mindless shooter. Those levels where you along with other humans battle those huge monsters just looks so fun and its something we haven't seen before.
As long as the story is interesting and you dont feel like this is another pointless shooter, the game will be interesting and groundbreaking.
Hell you can even use the starship troopers like bugs to kill enemies by throwing sporres around, what other game lets you do that?

Too many leaks. There has only been two, and the first one was only a part of the sourcecode to tease Valve. I hope that Steam is ready for this when It gets released on does not overload. Don't forget to view the E3 2004 trailer (the big one) if you have not watched it. It shows a lot of new things since the last years E3.

If it would have come out in september I would have been the most amazing game ever. but now it will just be an amazing game. <All speculation of course>

my only beef is that I actually watched the videos after promising myself not to Sad
And I just dislike this whole 'fantastic' alien technology and setting, the whole big brother, orwellian setting is great - but I wish it drew more upon that and a more tangible alien enemy and realistic weaponry.

I guess that is personal preference, but maybe you see what I'm trying to say?

HomeLAN - Finally, we have to ask; how is Half-Life 2 coming along?

Gabe Newell - Good. It's in great shape. We anticipate delivering it to Vivendi in August.

Altough take everything Gabe says with a bit of salt...

There was a bit of depressing info from one of their FAQ sessions...

It was something like:

"If some water is put into a box and the sides of the box get shot out, will the water come spilling out?

Gabe: No"

Too bad Sad lol.

What i've noticed is, the parts where you appear to fight with human AI, they are only really there for show. It's a setpiece you run through to get to another area. The people arn't actually fighting, they just appear to be.
