|
 |
Let's face it, MMORPG games are getting very popular and profitable every year.
Personally, I prefer single player RPG games where all the npcs have voices and each time you play you get a different experience.
What do you prefer?

I woud play MMORPG if I did't have to pay for them, and their name woud not be somthing with "guild" in it. So if D3 become a pay less mmorpg I woud play it.

I prefer SP, but they're so rare I normally get my RPG fix with multiplayer. But whenever an single-player RPG comes out I'm prepared to drop any MMOG i'm playing and go play that game.

MMORPG!
Mainly becuase we're a bunch of friends all playing together in the same type of games. We can socialize over the game(s) aswell as RL. And in my oppinion MMO's are way more fun then ordinary IM programs such as MSN/YIM/AIM etc etc.
All games in general ecomes more fun i think when playing with buds though. Not just RPG's.
Paying for it? Yeah. That's the only downside however, it's well worth it in my oppinion.

Oh yeah, MMO its soooo exciting sitting there hacking at a dummie for 50hrs just to gain a level.... Geez *grins*
Atleast with a good SP-RPG you get a superb story line and action and it doesnt drain your life trying to gain a couple levels. Stop when you want and nothing changes...

neither.
RPGs that are playabel SP and MP (but not Massive Multiplayer)
RPGs with story and interesting quests (not the crap you get in MMORPGS) and lots of NPC interaction, that I can play MP with my wife, or a couple of friend over the internet.
e.g. NWN

SP RPG FTW.
No MMORPG can beat the feeling of Baldurs Gate, Fallout and all other greats RPG's!

I'll have to say SP although i've played WoW more than any other RPG or any other game for that matter.. MMORPG's are only fun if you have the chance to play with the right people / with close friends. DeusEx, System Shock, Ultima Underworld, Ultima7, FO, PST... nuff said.

tbh there are pros and cons to both.
With a SP rpg, you usually get a long game with a very engrossing storyline and a complete game (IE it actually has an ending, unlike the MMORPG) and you dont need to pay monthly for it.
With MMORPGs you get an engrossing world with real players that you can actually talk to and interact with, and usually many more hours of play time.
I found the balance between the 2 with GuildWars. It basically fuses the SP RPG and MMORPG - you can play it single or coop or against each other, and it actually has an ending (and no monthly fee!)
fear the led zeppelin that was!

In mmorpg games you can learn that many people at the age of 20 can be more immature than a 12-13 y old player..

If you get addicted, a MMORPG can ruin your life (at least a period of it). That's for sure...

not that i'm a bazillionairre, but compaining about monthly costs over a gaming service like an mmo seems rather trivial. Especially since it cost me, my wife, and 3yr old about $50 just to go see Carz or whatever in the theatre. Fuck that. Even video rental stores are getting fucking expensive compared to MMOs.
Besides, I met my wife online in an old text based "mmo", and we've been playing them together ever since. So definitely MMO for me. Far more engrossing, and some have really good stories if you're willing to get involved with the live events team. Saga of Ryzom comes to mind as a very good story driven MMO. Also, and this is IMHO, MMO's offer far more roleplaying opportunities than your average SP rpg.
On the flip side, I like the more developed nature of SP rpgs. Though I get more enjoyment from MP rpgs like NWN or Dungeon Siege.
but MMO gets my vote.
i can has computar?!

As most of the players 'ere,i would loooooove to choose MMORPG if it was for FREE...Unreal Tournament 2007 like but WoW like RPG...
Guild Wars?,no,thanks..
WoW?..if it was free (at official servs, not pirate..but i were on pirate ;3 )i would be on everyday
BattleField 2/2147 (whatever year )...depends of the likes...but i already got Counter Strike Source...wich i dun play anymore ^^;;
My decision: SP RPG
