the year 2006 is moving out realy soon, and from my point of view, it was preety dry year for gamers..very very few goodies (again... its my opinion).
but for me , games that really did it and could be games of this year are:
"Dark Messiah of Might and Magic", "call of juarez" and "Condemned Criminal Origins"
(i am not into rts and rpg, so i guess you guys will have other kings;)

It'll prolly be Oblivion considering its mainstream success, although it sucked real bad as a rpg...
Company Of Heroes has an equal chance too, maybe a bit better too!

Gothic3 doesn't stand a chance, it's a buggy pile of shit and doesn't look as good as Oblivion.
Are there any other high-profile games coming out in November/December?
