Indeed, another great Scorsese movie, he doesn't deserve this shitty screener though. I will watch this one at cinemas, then buy it on DVD!

yeah but what i was referring to was that tarantino started looking overseas and bringing in asian films to audiences that werent aware of them, and then taking all the credit... scorsese's doing the same thing essentially

my main gripe with the remake is that in the original it was sort of a race between the two sides who would find the rat/mole in their camp first, that somehow didn't come out quite as strongly in the remake, also, and that's just a personal thing of mine, I fucking hate Matt Damon, only movie i can stand him in was Bourne Identity.

Yup, and great remakes are EXTREMELY rare to see.

This was an extremely well made remake that stands on it's own. William Monahans adapted screenplay is one of the best all year.

Totally disagree, Tarantino has never ripped off movies like that, he pays homage to them and is inspired by them. Reservoir Dogs is the only one which comes to my mind which is very loosely based on an asian movie (City On Fire), but the story is only based on a couple of keypoints from it, the rest is entirely Tarantino's work.
And as for saying Scorsese is doing the same thing, well, that is just blasphemy. So he directed one remake of an asian movie, so what? I don't see a problem with that at all, he is one of the greatest directors ever, period.

how did he took credit for it?
if anything , he helped them out cuz, lets face it - if it wasn't for his name in the title half of the people that watched it wouldn't even give a second glance to "some lame asian flick".

The Departed isn't nearly as good as Goodfellas was. Scorcese dropped the ball on this one.

You can't expect him to overgo one of his best masterpieces ever, that's like telling Coppola to top of The Godfather!
