sexy! Very Happy

We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

LOL, where you going to fly a real flight simulator with a gamepad or mouse? Just get a good joystick, you won't regret it.

OT: This game looks very nice. From the reviews it seems better than latest MS flight sim 2004. From what I remember this was in the beginning made by only one man. Flying vtol aircrafts and spaceships sounds really cool. I hope they've integrated NASA's new spaceshuttle. And big props to the developer for putting this on dvd!

Yes that could be that cas, indeed. But Gameport -> USB adapters are not so expensive these days.

This is the site that should be in the first thread: http://www.x-plane.com/. That's the official site. Ram usage doesnt sound that nice:

Quote:

Version | Load Time and FrameRate | RAM used
X-Plane 8.00 | 34 seconds, 36 fps | 753 meg
X-Plane 8.02 Beta-1 | 29 seconds, 65 fps | 691 meg
X-Plane 8.02 Beta-2 | 25 seconds, 75 fps | 638 meg

The beta patch sounds pretty important. It's obvious that you should at least have 1gb of ram if you have Windows XP.

I'd say it was worth it. This is a comprehensive flight simulator, and in the words of Laminar Research, they've improved "tons" in version 8.01 over version 7.61. Glad to see Vengeance release it, since I've never seen this outside of a rip form.

Shit, I cant get the installer to work properly. I get:

Quote:
Failed to extract zip file. (#3, Line 14)

Invalid or corrupt file.
D:\Program Files\X-Plane\Resources\default scenery\US\earth nav data.zip

in the end of the install. I've burnt it two times (dvd decrypter and alcohol). Anyone having this problem?

If I remember correctly, X-Plane 7 was released by DEViANCE...

Yes that true, and jojox -> By some reason many takeoff places or right on the water. It's very weird. However I didn't like this game so much. The resolution changer is messed up too. I rather play MS flight sim 2004.

So I take it that you solved your installation problem? I saw somebody mentioning the problem on FTX forum, so I figured I would ask first before I grab this one for myself.

Im not sure what you are doing wrong but when I started the install problem it did ask me for installation drive and path.

btw. The sim is awsome as the older versions were, especially with the
gen 8 scenery.

No it did not, but I could run the game. It seems that It's either the release or the original cd that is screwed then.

Anyhow, I don't recommend this game as It's messed up. I can't understand what's good with it. Just get MS flight simulator 2004 instead.

The thing is that i cant do something wrong with that Game... When i open the DVD i c this: an folder called Resources, an file called How to Install (lal useless crap), and the X-Plane-Setup.exe. OK i run the X-Plane-Setup.exe and the installer will start initalisation. After that the Installer start installation on drive C: and i dont get asked for location where i want it.....

That is quite strange. When I click on X-Plane-Setup.exe I get welcome menu (click next), license Agreement (click agree, click next), window with information about scenery (click next), window which lets you select which scenery to install (click next), and now I get Installation Folder/path window. Quite strange indeed.

PS. As far as MS Flight Sim vs. X-Plane goes, X-Plane has a far more advanced flight model that MS FS, and a much bigger database of custom planes for dowload, not to mention you can fly to mars if u wanted to. MS FS has few pluses over X-Plane. Ease of setup/use, PC requirements, and virual cockpits, they are just more detailed which is always a BIG plus. But I will take the more realistic apprach anyday over shiny grfx.

Actually, you cant fly *to* mars, you can fly ON mars Wink

And btw, that screenshot with the wavy runway shows the ability to simulate sloped runways, something MSFS still can't do...
