Its about that stupid boy who opend fire at this school and killed himself some weeks ago. And we all know that germany have taken away blood and stuff, but now they want to give players who do voilent stuff 1 years in jail.. WTF are they talking about. So the police will daily check CS servers :S
oh my god... i don't think people get it. Its not the volience in itselfs that make people do it. The game that got me most voilent was THPS so...

Still huh. Germany has censored games for years. No nazi images or swastikas allowed. Just download a patch to get the normal blood.

I read the original German article. They are also planning to let the BKA (Bundes Kriminal Amt - Germans federal crime agency) to play for internet nanny. I don't think that forbidding these kind of violent games is the solution yet they are still wrestling with their past.

The politicians have this pipedream going right now of outlawing all "killer games" or murder simulators, as Jack Thompson would call 'em. Nobody's sure right now which games qualify for that and also EU legislative may come into the equasion here. So this goes way beyond censoring blood.
Needless to say this won't stop young people from running amok in schools, those dumbshits just think the games are causing it, not the parents who don't give a flying fuck about their own kids or the teachers who don't teach anything because the punk kids won't learn anyway. It's easier to blame the games. Hey, he played counterstrike, that must be the cause, let's ban that! Next time this happens, it can't be the game anymore so they'll probably thinek, he had a mobile phone, that must be it, let's ban that as well! *shakeshead*
Btw, germany isn't censoring, it's the developers who make special bloodless versions of their games for the german market because any game on the "index" can't be advertised or sold to minors.

Really stupid..imo you don't become a murderer or voilent just cos you play a computer game. The ones who DO become voilent after doing so - would proberbly do so even if they had not been playing. I feel sorry for the german nation, it's about time they ditch their laws. Most people who live in germany today werent even born or involved in the crimes that happened during ww2.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Yes but since that kid went bezerk they're taking it even further. They want to moderate the behaviour of people playing online games.

Suprise, suprise, its the christians opening their double standard traps. Instead of focusing on kids and their families that have problems and actually doing something about the root of that problem, lets just cut of some branches.
Most people realise that there is a difference between games and real life. Some of the few that dont are probably the christians themselves. Send them to treatment asap. Something morphine based to keep those nutcases calm.

This debate comes up everytime some kid goes berserk in Germany....
It's always easier to blame a thing than to find the responsibility with people. C'mon those kids get bullied in school and are very introverted (whatever the english word is).
The real problem is society, the gap between "cool" and "nerd" in schools is getting larger and larger and the kids make fun of those kids that aren't raised right by their parents.
And c'mon if you compare how many people play "killer games" and don't go berserk in relation to the people that do that's like 1 out of 1 million players.
It's just retarded german politicians that want to look good in front of the people...
And if I understood right, then I would have to go to jail for playing "Killergames".
Suuure, good Idea, because the people that go to jail learn social behavior there and don't get into contact with people who have done worse things...
The german attitude just pisses me off... Note to self: Move to different country -.-

the main problem regarding this political debate here is that the older generations of politicians don't have a clue of what's going on in the virtual world... They feel cut off and blame everything that's going wrong in our society on things they can't comprehend. This time it's the computer games- next time it'll be something else, be sure of that. It's comfortable this way and since when do politicians give a shit on discussing matters reasonable- they don't take the time to let the public know that there's much data to be collected before it's actually possible for them to understand the matter as it really is... I feel really mad about this whole monkey show since we have to pay the price for it. What are these stupid fucks paid for? They intentionally exclude as many uncontrollable aspects from the matter in discussion to create themselfes the best possible fortress to attack political opponents from. It's all about status and importance- i have to admit i sometimes really feel the urge to nuke to Reichstag... This corrupt bunch of losers should go straight to hell- they don't serve the public, these greedy fucks have nothing better to do than to restrict our freedom bit by bit day for day.
I sometimes get the feeling that all this is part of a delusion programm to create the perfect manipulable consumer...since a few years I don't watch tv anymore because i realised that it made me angry to watch movies flooded with interruptions of neverending stupid advertisments....
well- i have to go to the toilet now. This whole political thing makes me want to express my denial in a very special way
