I just wet myself. I would die for SS3 or even a remake of SS2 running on the Doom 3 engine. That engine was MADE for System Shock.

I did the same thing. There's going to be a lot of wetness if they indeed make it. Just hope they don't dumb it down like DeusEx2.

imagine deus ex 1 in space on a lonely spaceship full of weird scary mutated things. The game is more tense and scary than any silent hill residentevil shit out there. Imho only AVP2 came near system schock 2 when it comes to tension.

They don't have to change anything in the gameplay, maybe to add more weapons and skills but it was perfect before, so no need for a new system.
With a new engine, this game can become super.

Thought it might be, apologies.
Keep in mind, the announcement of SS3 is just a POSSIBILITY, and a small one at that. I'd really hate for you all to be disappointed if it's something else.
Anyway, I wish they'd hurry up and make the goddamn announcement already...

this game will work better on the doom3 engine. doom3 is dark and uses light better, and part of the intensity of ss2 was the enclosed feeling. A deus ex 3 would be better thogh deus ex 1 is so damn good, if its anything like 2 dont bother. as soon as the cut scenes stopped it was bbbbaaaaad.

Read this. Sounds like a good theme:
Quote: |
While System Shock 2 represented what Irrational general manager Ken Levine describes as "a convergence of technology and commercialism" (that game took place on a corporate-sponsored starship), BioShock will instead represent "a convergence of technology and biological life," or more specifically, genetics. It's important to note: BioShock is not a sequel to any of the System Shock games, nor does it have any official relation to those games. But like the previous games, this one will offer a horror-themed gameplay experience in which what you observe, and what happens to you, will be tempered by your own choices. "[At Irrational], we think emergence is the future," says Levine.
BioShock takes place in a mysterious genetic laboratory. Other than that the complex is strewn with corpses (also for reasons unknown), nothing is clear to you. From what you can tell, the laboratory complex is apparently a holdover from World War II--you'll see remnants of the war as well as peeling paint throughout the complex. Something apparently happened back then that caused the complex to be abandoned by whoever was using it. In fact, the complex has only recently come back into use by the scientists circa the early 21st century, and advanced, top-secret contraptions used for arcane biotechnology experiments have been hastily bolted into the rotting walls of the complex.

Sounds great.
Perhaps it's best that it's not SS3; this leaves the team a lot of room to work with new ideas. Looks very promising.
