Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures

Ok, thought it deserved its own thread. It's officially delayed to 10.30.2007 as of today (previous date was May 2007)

Now, BETA FANS pay attention:

"‘Age of Conan’ is currently in closed beta. Funcom will soon announce a unique chance to secure a spot in the open beta of the game. If you are, or will shortly become, a part of the ‘Age of Conan’ community you will have a unique chance to influence and impact the ‘Age of Conan” game as it approaches its last stages of development." (c) Funcom

I already registered at their forum Smile

Its won a LOT of game show awards. The concepts are brilliant and Funcom may have finally lucked out and applied some of their experience. It looks AMAZING.

So did anarchy online, until Funcom decided to inject a sci-fi game with a fantasy fag syringe.

It looks like 'back to DX7' from the pics, how is that AMAZING?

Try DX10. http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=1905 for the latest video. I'm no fan of the 'pay-per-play' MMORGs, mostly cuz of outrageous subscription fees(how hard is it to give at least free 6mos or a year with a 50 dollar game??). But I do agree, this game looks absolutely amazing. Especially for the genre.

The graphics are no where near DX7 as upstart mentionned. Watch some of the videos and you'll understand.

Did you play Shadowlands? Did you observe the disastrous Alien Invasion? Did you play Lost Eden? Funcom's only true success was Notum Wars.

I was following this game for quite a while but couldn't care less now since they decided to delay the game till October 2007. Vista is coming out soon and still no DX10 games to showcase Laughing

October 2007? Thats so good. When an MM is DELAYED and not rushed out that means they know its going to be good but needs polish. EQ2 was rushed out, and sucked. WoW got delayed and released when ready (kind of anyway) and had the same old blizzard polish (even though I have since quit). The longer they take on this game the better IMO and I plan on beta testing this if I have to buy a beta acct Razz

ya pay to plays never made sense to me.I mean you got WoW, it's what 20 buck a month? I played it for like an hour and found guild wars to be more fun. and the glitches in that game are just simply retarded. they over charge on those pay games.20 a month, so say you play for a year straight then you decide not to play anymore...that's 240 bucks not to mention costs of the game down the drain. Even worse, you buy the game and you can't even play it in an offline mode...so right away your forced to spend more money to actually activate the game unless their generous enough to include so many months for free

LOL.. You played it for an hour? I'd say it takes a least a few days + some really good friends or a really nice and fun guild to play with to really "get" WoW. The game is also a lot more fun after lvl60(or 70 now really) when you start raiding and teamplay/tactics becomes the main aspect of the gameplay. But it's a game that requires much dedication to become fun, cant just play it 30min-an hour every day, you dont get anywhere in the game and will never get into it.

The more you play MMOs and the longer you play an MMO, the more you realize that they are all the same crap. But hey, obviously there are 7+ millions out there who are braindead Laughing

That can be said about any game genre or´movie genre still it can be very entertaining, and that's what's it all about.

I think it's kinda funny that many ppl that love to diss WoW or MMORPG's plays Battlefield, Quake, UT or RTS-games think their games has more depth, requires more skill and has a more mature players, has more original gameplay etc.. Newsflash: it's B.S Laughing

Were are the hardcore pvp mmo's that are not 11 years old.

I also played wow for like... an hour and found it very boring. Maybe its because im used to hack&slash games (which become boring in the end anyway), but i think the first impression you get from a game its very important. It doesnt matter if it´s GREAT when reaching lvl 60, an mmo should be fun from start to beginning, otherwise it would be some kind of "suferring"

To play an MM you have to enjoy progression of a character in a game. If you liked D&D games and whatnot, thats who are the people who usually like MMs.

AoC Friends and Family beta started a while ago and closed beta invites are coming within the next 6 weeks.

Yeah you need much free time (i.e having a good life, no life=people dedicating their time to things they dont enjoy Wink ).
