So, as the title says , i think we can now hibernate 'til March before we see good pc games released (STALKER ?,...) and all good DirectX10 titles have been pushed back (Crysis, Hellgate London Crying or Very sad )

I'm just wondering if it will be worth switching to Vista in Febrary since no title will take benefit (except if Directx9L runs faster the Directx9 games but id on't know Confused )

Hmm, this becomes more and more confusing ... Laughing

I think switching to Vista will be worth it. Mostly for my case. I've had Vista as my main os since it was released RTM. Problem is, I forgot the auto-windows-update thing and well, Microsoft found out my version is not genuine. It's not much of a problem but more of an annoyance as I cannot play any game in fullscreen mode. It has to be windowed and for a few games there is just no windowed mode. Sad In the end, I'm unable to pretty much play any games up until February where I will buy a Vista license key. Of course, I'm not gonna spend 600$ on an OS. The license key should do and it doesn't cost that much, maybe 150 or so.

It will be a long time before there a good games taking advantage of DX10, the good thing is that Vista is far better than XP when it comes to working with an OS.

I see a demo version and a Alien.Shooter.2.GERMAN-SiLENTGATE .... no english release. Wasn't even aware a sequel was in production that's good Smile (but gfx aren't).

As for Vista... I have ultimate x64 installed since RTM release (activated with KMS) and I ain't had much troubles (except trackmania nations and runaway2).... go for it if you have compatible motherboard drivers!

Oh and about using Vista for DX10... if you don't have DX10 hardware it's not worth much isn't it?

i will say ATI ... after AMD took ATI under their wing the new ati cards are faster then Geforce , the next winner will be Ati with they dx10 cards and drivers , yeah i know now Nvidia has the lead , the same thing was with Voodoo and Riva

Hmm..well except there is no vista driver for the 8800 yet. And nvidia is dragging their feet on coming up with a date, saying its still in QA until an unknown time. Which might be because MS hasn't even completely finished dx10 for the now shipping vista. All rumor and conjecture at this point, but I havent seen any site with any hands-on testing with games running dx10 drivers, even pre-beta ones. Besides that there isnt going to be a game to use any part of dx10 until late spring, if not summer. So the whole dx10 thing is no reason to upgrade, yet, even if you do have the hw for it.

But aside from that I hear Vista handles multiple cores much nicer than XP. So that might be a deciding feature for me to install it sometime soon anyways.

yeah no 8800gtx vista support yet but i think it will appear on vista offical release(not business users) of 30/1/07.(fingers fucking crossed).
still upgrade to 8800gtx is still worth it as everything(apart from the bugged games) runs very fast, faster than x1900 crossfire(ive seen this personally).and if you got lucky on a good 2nd hand one like me, i made a profit selling both x1900s. Wink

G80 vs R600 debate, well nobody has seen this hands on so people only guessing by the R600s supposed capabilites. also its been delayed until March now, fuck waiting until then if you want cutting edge now.
Just my 10p worth...............................

I see these for NVIDIA but it only mentions the usual 7800 and 7900 high end chipsets in the release notes so it's probably not for the 8800 series.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_97.46.html

Kinda have to release something soon as Vista is launched at the 30th this month. Confused

Unsure about early vista experiences but there was probably similar issues when people switched from 98/ME to 2000 and XP.
