Hm, i was surprised when i haven't found topic about that awesome sitcom TV show
I remember the day, when i've found the 1st season of it in my local network, i can't help laughing myself when i was watching it, i liked it very much. Respect to Graham Linehan for that great thing. Well, i think some info from Wikipedia will be useful
Quote: | The IT Crowd is a sitcom written by Graham Linehan and produced by Ash Atalla for Channel 4. Currently, only one series of six episodes has been produced, but a second series of eight episodes has been commissioned by Channel 4 and is scheduled to be broadcast in Spring 2007. The show was filmed in front of a live audience at Teddington Studios. The first two episodes were broadcast by Channel 4 on Friday 3 February 2006. The show's name is a parody of the concept of it boys and it girls combined with "IT" for Information Technology.
The IT Crowd is set in the offices of Reynholm Industries, a fictitious British corporation in central London. It focuses on the shenanigans of the three-strong IT support team located in a dingy, untidy and unkempt basement - a stark contrast to the shining modern architecture and stunning London views enjoyed by the rest of the organisation.
Moss and Roy, the two technicians, are portrayed as socially inept geeks. Despite the company's utter dependence on their services, they are despised by the rest of the staff. Roy's exasperation is reflected in his support techniques of ignoring the phone in the hope it will stop ringing, and using reel-to-reel tape recordings of stock IT suggestions ("Have you tried turning it off and on again?", "Are you sure it's plugged in?"). Moss's wide and intricate knowledge of all things technical is reflected in his extremely accurate yet utterly indecipherable suggestions, while demonstrating a complete inability to deal with practical problems like extinguishing fires and removing spiders.
Jen, the newest member of the team, is hopelessly non-technical, despite claiming on her CV that she has "a lot of experience with computers". As Denholm, the company boss, is equally tech-illiterate, he's convinced by Jen's interview bluffing and appoints her head of the I.T. department. Her official title is "relationship manager", yet her attempts at bridging the gulf between the technicians and the business generally have the opposite effect, landing Jen in situations just as ludicrous as those of her team-mates. |
To my mind it's the best sitcom i ever seen, i liked it from the very first episode and i can't wait to see the second season, which is going to be released in 2007 or 2008, i don't know exactly date.

759 width. You must be joking.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111958/
Life is hard for Father Ted. Banished to windswept Craggy Island (for reasons which never quite become clear, but might have something to do with missing Church funds), he is forced to share a house with three of the most difficult people in Ireland.
First there is Father Jack, who has not been sober since 1936. A whiskey fan, he is happy to drink carpet cleaner when nothing else is available. His vocabulary consists of three words, only two of them printable. Father Dougal is young, innocent and almost inconceivably stupid. He once conducted a christening during which the subsequent explosion destroyed the church. Finally Mrs Doyle, the housekeeper, has one sole purpose in life – to supply the priests with cups of tea, usually against their will.
Craggy Island itself is a God-forsaken hellhole with only a North, South and East side (the West side of the island broke off in a storm). The island is populated by many eccentrics with only one place of interest. The Holy Stone of Clonrichert; a small rock on a pedestal!
May the NFOrce be with you always.

i found this awful
the only nerd humor in the show is by the set designers
script itself could have been written by anyone

i never got into mighty boosh. felt like stoner highschool comedy. stupid shit you'd come up with friends while getting high in the woods hours before an exam. there are some bits in mighty boosh that I found funny... but it's too niche and too hipster i mean mod . darkplace is another one. once I got pass the novelty of it... it doesn't do anything for me
But we're in a time and place where mightyboosh, darkplace, inbetweeners, and a few others over shadow some of the comedy from back in the day. Even now recently monty python is synonymous with family guy and that irks me soo much. devalues the comedy from being smart, well written to it's just a skit program with dirty jokes.

that was the problem for me. i was told it was such a great show, fresh jokes, great characters... and then i watched it and i was like... woa... this is on tv? not by itself contained somewhere as an indie project or a movie? it's bizzare. it's creative. nothing at all what has been tickling my ear drums. and with that i couldn't get used to it. the visuals threw me off. i wasn't expecting a live action cartoon. i still watched every episode. i just couldn't get into it. Heard the movie was good though. With some great creative aspects.
I do wish the initial punch to the face the show offered could be wiped out of my memory, then i could possibly actually fall in love with it. It does have some good writing though. and some catchy songs.
same with big bang theory. i got into community quick. but then watching big bang theory it's all pseudo brainy nerdy jokes that try to make the gamer/wannabe geek-nerd in me feel welcome. it did anything but that. i could write a whole paragraph and then some why the big bang theory doesn't deserve the praise it currently has and i'll still be wrong. I understood the charm, the chemistry, and the ease of the show. it's just didn't work for me. lol.
But then again... even family guy has a funny line once in a while.

Was a show that took some getting used to. By the time I did and enjoyed it, it was canned.
Will be good to see a special one off I guess!

IT wasn't canned. They just stopped making them. Graham was too busy on twitter and his tumblr to write more episodes and all the actors got big things for themselves.
The final special to give everyone a proper send off is nice. It's not needed, but it's nice.
