There is a reason that little fan runs at what... 6-8000rpm? Don't take it off and turn on your machine, get a passive cooler like Mutantius suggested

well you could spray it with WD-40 lol.
As for the starting up problem it could be a number of things, the not starting up and shutting down again could be powersupply related as well as the CPU. As for it staying on but not booting it might be the memory. Try different slots and different sticks.
also motherboard can be a problem too. I got a machspeed that doesn't like to power off. damn thing.

I changed my chipset fan to a passive one on my Abit IC7-MAX3 motherboard, very cheap about $6-7.

Can anyone tell me if the ATI FireGL X1 card (based on Radeon 9700) is good for gaming?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATI_FireGL
seems to be designed for CAD ... but some dude on ebay that lives near me has a whole bunch ...

Correct me if Im wrong but the FireGL series perform identically to their mainstream gaming counterparts but lack driver support for games. Am I right? Am I wrong?

I wish I kept a ton of hardware I never used instead of selling. I recently sold a 9800Pro my friend gave me to this guy for $25. It was the 256 version that made no difference and my friend had gotten it the day it came out and even gave me the box with the original price tag.............$459.99 hahahaha. I would have given you that shit for free, I also have a 9600Pro but its on the verge of death. I'll see if I have anything else AGP laying around besides this FX5200.
