I used to have the Logitech MX 1000 Laser wireless, and I had a couple of others. Well I guess it was cool when they came out and all that but guess what...I am using a G5 WITH CABLE now!. Why? because it ALWAYS WORKS! If you are in to gaming and stuff, cable still rules. Its faster, more reliable and like I said, just works.
But I must say that the design of the MX Revolution is pretty cool.
My son now uses the MX 1000 and there is always old batteries laying around on his table. I guess if you don't want ur weekly allowance to go up in smoke cause of batteries...well, get a G5

Good gaming "mice" (not Logitech)
Razer Copperhead Link (German, sorry)
Aopen Gamer-Maus MS-X1000 Link (German, sorry)
Cyber Snipa Intelli Link (German, sorry)
Just some alternatives...maybe not what you are looking for, but as i am more in to "gaming" then to browsing, well there it is And notice, none of them are wireless.
Still the G5 will do you just fine, trust me

Hi, I use Logitech mice for gaming. Particularly wireless.
Firstly corded mice (and to a lesser extent keyboards) are a real detriment once you use wireless. I have wired and wireless mice plugged in at the same time and noticed zero tangible difference in normal operation so any concerns over mouse lag and so forth are no longer necessary. The only downside to wireless is batteries/battery packs and it is just as annoying as the wire but thankfully it only annoys in intervals rather than all the time.
The best Logitech mouse is not the revolution but the G7. The revolution is an office mouse, not for gaming. The G7 also uses battery packs and you get two with your purchase. One recharges in the station while you use the other.
I highly recommend this mouse or any other in the series. The G5 is fine as well, and has a nice cord, but wireless is freedom!

???
Does he not know the mouse takes rechargeable batteries and that he recharges them by putting the mouse back in the charging station when not in use?

All the mice apart from the G7 use rechargeable batteries. So battery life is not a problem, you just remember to put it back in it's charging station when it's not in use. A pack of rechargeable batteries is a good thing to have though - that way you can swap between them in sticky moments. I don't want it to sound like a huge negative point but you will swap batteries and battery packs quite often (I couldn't give you exact details as I do it so naturally now that I don't notice!). For me this isn't a problem, for others it tends to be the biggest issue.

Well, he is my son right but guess what, when the charge was empty once...he THROW AWAY! the batteries its up to him to go and buy a new set of rechargeable ones...or am I right I guess he has to drag him self up to the nearest Media Markt (German tech store) here in town to get some, I guess its easier (lazier) to just pop over the street to the local drug store and get some cheapo normal ones, until he drags himself up to the mall...bye bye allowance money

Kind of Final Questions ONLY for those who owns a MX Revolution (i said MX,NOT VX)
1.Ever moved the mouse and it didn't moved on the screen?
2.What's the battery life when it's fully charged?..like how long does it lasts after it's unplugged from the recharger?
3.Is the middle wheel's "click" there?..i mean, you can still use the middle wheel click to activate the mouse scrolling thingy?
4.Is it recommended to install the mouzy's Software?...
5.Have screenshots of all it's views? (Left,Right,Top,Bottom,Front)...btw,have any other photo of it's components AND the Power Cable Type? (i'm European/Spanish,so we dun have those "Rectangular Gold thingys" but roundy circular ones)
6,possibly a stupid question: Had an MX mouse before (500,518 (both with 2 side buttons,eh!) and never tought of using it again after buyin' this wireless mouse?
Please, answer with complete description, starting with the number of the question and your answer after.
Please (again),be quick before tomorrow...end of year must (or not' coz of this) rock.

Yeah I just got the MS Habu (razer product), upgrading from a razer diamond back.. best two mice I ever owned. The girl I live with has the revolution, its not a bad mouse but it doesn't fit in my hand based on how I hold my mouse, its designed for the hand to hold the mouse, where as I tend to have my hand hanging off the end using my fingers to move it around, causes less arm strain in long sessions..
Still razer mice rock, although the older mice have odd side buttons (thus my upgrade to the Habu)..

Its not the newest razer creation, but it is reactively new.. I wasn't a big fan of the newest as the habu has the same features and the same overall shell design.. it just has a slightly different look and is a little cheaper.
