WOW! I always wanted a game like this where I can live out my fantasy as Jack Aubrey!
"He may have had the weather gauge, but we had the weather gods."

And yea the template is of the SUCKY kind...

Read on some German sites that it will be out sometime mid/late 2008.

I love all Total War games, I think they're great.

Unfortunately I don't really like this gunpowder era stuff.
It's great that they are implementing actual ship combat now though!

Like I said, been waiting for this since Imperial Glory (I was soooo in to this period back then)
Some more impressions from the German game mag "Game Star" (not high res but you get the picture) looks bloody AWESOME!

Notice the map Wink, I guess they had to, as at this time in history the world was more or less completely discovered. It might not all be playable but anyway.

so did I, but then I thought about it and I don't think it'll happen.
after Rome and MediEval, japan would just be too small of a theater for a new total war game.
I think it would be more likely for a total war game about all of asia to come out than a new shogun.

I don't like rome. I mean.... it was a good game, but I just don't like the era.
I prefer the medieval era with crusades, knights and longswords over the spears, gladius and barbarians of rome.

Osterlitz here I come.

Hope they drop gayspy and buy some new servers. TW series had one of the most die hard communities and all was lost with buggy rome and no customer support.

Wow, looks nice. First TW game that actually made me salivate since Rome. IMHO, Medieval 2 was just more of the same, with prettier gfx and the same flaws, and got rather boring. This looks to update the Total War experience, which is great. Awesome that we finally get to the age of the Empire. Looking forward to it.

I've been playing the total war series since rome was released Smile
That was a really good game but since m2tw i haven't played it since Sad
I might reinstall it and download a new mod from.....
www.totalwarcentre.net.
I hope empire is different in more ways then m2tw was as it needs something different putting in the game.

release date is november 2008. it has been in development since rome total war hit the shelves, and is being made by the rome total war team ,who are based in the UK. as opposed to the australian team, who made med 2 total war. Idea

i liked all Total War series. and i mean everything. i really wonder how's this gonna be. let's hope they keep a good gameplay (like the others) but with better graphics. nothing compared with Rome with it's large scale army (see pictures above .. most likely the unit scale was set to large).
well, another game for 2008 .... guess all we have to do is wait and see how good this game will be

What a waste. Rome 2 or Shogun 2 please.

Sounds like AOE3. Bah. Waste of developer time and resources.

So just cos YOU don't like these scenarios its a waste of time/resources? You do know that there is a huge fanbase for this - right? Rolling Eyes

Well, maybe the naval battles will be similar to Patrician/Pirates (and a vast number of other games featuring ships) but then you think, that wouldn't be abstract enough for the total war series so maybe not? Its not something that excites me personally (in fact more micromanagement in an area we could largely ignore in the past irks me quite a lot as it happens!)

Still, if the rest of the game holds up; why not? I look forward to what they do to make the game more enjoyable to play.

Actually, yes, I did not know that there was a huge fan base for that era of gaming. Enjoy E:TW.
