im sorry if this is not the correct forum for this topic but
lately i've came across a few games which MADE me install this AGEIA Physx or w/e, even though i dont have the hardware for this...
so anyone knows whats the big deal with this? why is it necessary? does it emulate anything?
three games i can remeber now silverfall, graw and now infernal demo...

If you don't have the pile-o-crap PhysX card it renders the physics by using the CPU, simple as that.

there are ageia software mode and ageia hardware mode, if you don't have ageia card software mode is using

but... once i installed graw i deleted that shit and still i could play it til the end...
does it make any difference? i mean did i miss anything for not having them drivers?

In GRAW it just means MORE rubble and things like that. The technology is young though and perhaps not even going to take off with multi-cored CPU's.

To play GRAW without PhysX crap installed, copy "app.bin", "pcmp.o", "PhysXCooking.dll" and "PhysXCore.dll" to GRAW install dir, and uninstall PhysX drivers.
There's also a mod that activates all PhysX content on CPU. It does look better...  |

No, you didnt miss anything. The game rendered the physics, Ageia drivers only used if you have the card installed.
Now when there are those 8800 cards which support hardware physics i think Ageia PhysX will finally die

Oh, damn you got me there... I found it on some russian site, but I don't remember what it was. I used Google Translation to read it. I was actually looking for a PhysX emulator ( ), but found that mod instead. I'll look for it, and post the site if I find it. Maybe Google search history will help me find it.

this "mod" makes the explosions look retarded. stuff flies off but then just keeps floating away like youre in zero G
