maybe one of them doesnt work with MS site.. and some do...

Already checked with different cd-keys.
Some turned out to be valid, some invalid.
The invalid one works fine so far. No problem with Windows Update.

Mine appeared to be valid. Looks like there are many steps for people who buy it.

I would never let MS check if my copy of Windows XP is valid or not, who knows what data they transmit, and who cares anyway. I still can use windows update and thats all i am interested in.

I agree with you m8, people with pirated WinXP going to check if their WinXP is valid, nice job for letting Microsoft know your IP and installing some ActiveX controls on your computer. Don't wonder is somebody someday knocks on your door to see your "licensed" WinXP. Good Luck and keep the "good" job!

V5 update only blocks known corp. keys. Same as V4 did with SP1 update. The above site seems to perform a more thorough check of the pid.

I can't seem to install the activex control to find out. I click on the bar to install it, and nothing happens.

Congratulations, it appears that your Windows product key is valid.
This is a strong indicator that your operating system is genuine, however the Windows Validation Assistant cannot make a final determination.
