I guess for me its the 1st Tomb raider..(don't know if that counts) I used to get vertigo when i was up on that huge pyramid in that huge cavern. Almost shut my eyes playing that level Razz

Other then that I remember playing this game on the Amiga back when it counted (cant remember the name of the game) but I do remember this puzzle that was solved with "hit Rocko with candle stick" don't know why, but that line just stuck in my head. a friend of mine that also was playing back then sometimes reminds me of that particular line Wink

Used to play quite alot of point-and-click adventure games when I was younger but I guess that the serie isn't that popular anymore, anyway let's see here:
(Titles I remember with a short description)

Discworld - Quite funny but I never actually finished it
Discworld 2 - Funny game but I liked the first one better
Hopkins FBI - More mature than most adventure titles due to gore and nudity, cool game
Broken Sword 1/2/3/4 - Great serie though the latest one weren't that good.
Indigo Propecy/Farenheit - Unique gameplay and nice story, still unfinished.
Longest Journey - One of the better adventure games I've played, sadly it was dubbed.
Dreamfall - Good sequel but I got stuck in the door song pussle, will continiue it later on.
Police Quest - Only played the earlier titles but recently aquired a sierra compilation with it
King's Quest - Just kept dying in these games, good but quite dated by now.
Space Quest - Same as the above.
Larry - Think the game was quite good back then but Magna Cum Laude was to arcady.
Toonstruck - Interesting mix of cartoon/cgi but quite a wacky game.
Sam n Max - Don't remember that much from Hit the Road but the new episodes are fun.
Full Throttle - Cool game but I never got that far, may attempt it again some day.
The Dig - Okay game but not the best I played, still quite good though.
Flight of the Amazon Queen - Another wacky lucasarts game, didn't get that far.
Loom - Really unique game but extremely old by now.
Monkey Island - First, second and third game were good but I never liked the fourth one.
Myst serie - Among the more difficult games but really nice enviroments and pussles.
Shivers - This one scared me when I first played it but not that scary by todays standards
Phantasmagoria - Part of the sierra compilation, currently unplayed.
Teen agent - Yet another lucasarts title but nothing special
Lula, Lula 3D - Just tested these briefly but I did not really like them, the 3d one sucked.
Marting Mystere - Didn't like this one but it was okay gameplay wise.
Indiana Jones serie - The older lucasarts games were rather fun back then.
Presumed / Missing - Web based weird game, never got into it and didn't really like it.
Dracula - Only played it briefly, decent game but not particularly scary.
Gene Machine - Rather wacky game but quite fun even if it's rather short
Zork - The text based ones were to hardcore for me but Nemesis and Inquisitor were fun.
Dogday - Odd title but more of a demo game than a full adventure game.
Tons of random translated japanese text adventures with some adult content. (heheh Razz )

EDIT:
Safecracker / Safecracker 2006 - Unique safe protections and a interesting game.
Starship Titanic - One of the few game I remember were I had to type to the characters
Paradise - Interesting murder/mystery story but nothing special
Sherlock Holmes - Ok game but the Chtulu occult stuff were rather weird.
Agatha Christie and then there were none - Interesting adaption of that classic ryme.
Daemonica - Rather bad game but had a few special things in it
Ankh - Cool cartoony adventure game with interesting challenges and good humour
Tunguska - Nice visuals but not that interesting to play though it's a ok game
Barrow Hill - Never been one to play horror titles that much but it was quite bad anyhow.
Keepsake - Quite easy due to me abusing the hint system now and then.
80 days - Never liked a timelimit in games so I never got far into it.
Legacy: Dark Shadows - Didn't like this one so I uninstalled it quite fast.
Syberia - Good adventure game and the sequel finished the story quite well.
Nibiru - Interesting title but I could never finish it due to what I suppose was a bug
Echo: Secrets of the cave - Quite short but rather intersting stoneage adventure game.
Paradise - Didn't like this one that much for some reason, nice enviroments though.
Moment of Silence - Rather odd story but it was playable.

EDIT:
Tex Murphy "something" - Pre animated detective story but quite fun to play.
Runaway - Kept crashing during intro but the sequel was quite good even if it was short.
Grim Fandango - Good story and humour together with interesting pussles.
Black Mirror - Not really that mystic/scary but it was a okay budget title
LBA / LBA2 - Funny platform adventure title but probably more of a platformer.
Shadow of destiny - Translated adventure title, decent but timelimited
Sanitarium - Nearly forgot about this one, interesting plot and quite unique.
Black Dahlia - 8CD disc swap nightmare due to all the animated sequences.
Monty Python's meaning of life - Just minigames and clickable screens but rather funny.

Tons of other titles I can't remember, lot's of weird adventure or action adventure games has been released and I probably tried most of them.
(Not that many special or unique games but I liked a few of them and could play most of them, probably getting tired of adventuring)

Well, you mentioned all the pearls. As for the less known stuff:

- Eye of the Kracken. Great lil game free to download, btw (http://www.absurdus.net/kraken/buynow.htm)

- Innocent Until Caught (http://www.mobygames.com/game/innocent-until-caught/screenshots)

- Beneath a Steel Sky - awesome, free to download (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/scummvm/bass-cd-1.2.zip?download)

- Inherit the Earth, very nice - I wish I could find it somewhere (http://www.wyrmkeep.com/ite/elkhall.png)

- Lure of the Temptress wasn't bad after all, free now (http://www.revolution.co.uk/lure_g/lure.zip)

Wow, only one mention of the Day of the Tentacle. That game was too funny for it's own good.

I also liked Monkey Island(the Windows ones, not the first Dos releases). That makes the last 2 of them. Didn't had the patience to load up Dos box and play the first two.

Broken Sword, another great PaC Adventure game. Didn't try the last one(i don't like platforming puzzles).

Syberia 1-2. Nice art work in there. Puzzles either hard or easy.

Myst 1-5. WTF? This is the best PaC games series ever. The art/puzzles are simply masterpieces.

Umm, in fact the first two Monkey Island games are the best. And there's no need to use the crappy DosBox. Just install ScummVM for Windows (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/scummvm/scummvm-0.9.1-win32.exe?download)and play.

Don't forget that you can play ALL your Lucasarts quests, Broken Sword 1&2, Beneath a Steel Sky, Flight of the Amazon Queen and some other games on your Pocket PC or Smartphone using ScummVM!

All 3 parts of Legend of Kyrandia were great too.

... and fuck Myst. That ain't really a quest or an adventure.

IMO a quest is a story you need to unfold trough adventuring/solving puzzles. Even if it's in first person perspective, it's still an adventure game...

Maybe you are disgruntled at Myst because you're not smart enough to solve the intricate puzzles, but fact of the matter is that Myst-series are adventure games - and they are all great except the last one.

Nah, not disgruntled at anything. I only said that it's a different genre that has nothing in common with Monkey Island, Full Throttle and Grim Fandango, although the series may be great in its own way.

You don't have to have anything in common with the vanilla adventure games to be an adventure game, that is my point. It's got all the elements of an adventure game.

Those 'vanilla' adventure games make 95% of em all and thus define the genre. So Myst is an oddball.

All the elements? Like witty dialogs and situational (sorry if word doesn't exist but you may understand what I mean) puzzles instead of "take the readings from dials on weird machine, multiply by the birthday date of someone and that will be the page in a book where you find another crappy riddle"

So what, there are plenty of games out there that have re-defined genres. I still think you just don't like the logical/mathematical puzzles in Myst (and why don't you take a look at how strange some puzzles are in other adventure games), but it's still an adventure game Razz

I really enjoyed the first Monkey Island (a lot better than the next games), both longest journeys, Fahrenheit (indigo prophecy in the us), the star wars kotor games (the second a lot more than the first, more epic)

Best game I've ever played is of course Baldur's Gate 2. No comments on this one.

Oh, and lastly, Myst games are for sh1t (ALL myst games and ALL clones sucked imho)
Thank god they are dead (or are they?)

You guys remember a game called "PAWN" (1986) for the Amiga ? I think that was the game that made me start playing this genre.

oh, for fuck's sake, the topic is not about DEEP QUEST-DRIVEN GAMES! It's about a specific genre, well-defined for a dozen of years already! Why the bloody crap would BG, Fallout, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale, GTA3+ and all the other shit be here?!
