Battlefront-HATRED

  • Story/Description:
    Quote:
Battlefront features the power of battalion-level combat in some of this period's most bloody and intense conflicts: Saipan, Market Garden, Novorossisk, and Gazala. Players will have realistic control over their soldiers, with a tactical scale just large enough to make a telling difference in the strategic picture.

While the Battlefront system shares a design philosophy with SSG's award-winning Decisive Battles series, it is actually an entirely new system specifically designed for battalion-level combat. This level of play gives the player a chance to experience true issues of command, control, sighting, and supply at a level that emphasizes plenty of tough but enjoyable decisions to make. The combat system provides new and varied ways to damage your opponent, with provisions for direct and indirect fire, air strikes, and special, historically-accurate combat modes (such as Japanese Banzai attacks).

  • Features:
    Quote:
*Improved Strategic AI enables a more flexible response to fast changing battlefields
    * Improved user interface simplifies unit information
    * Command and control system that rewards correct employment of military assets
    * Close combat routines have special attack modes such as Banzai, Surprise and Infiltration
    * Indirect Fire from artillery and air assets can directly attack enemy units
    * Direct fire from AFVs can attack enemy units at range
    * Counter-battery fire can eliminate enemy artillery
    * Eliminated units can be rebuilt as cadres and returned to battle
    * Sighting, command, supply and danger zone rules encourage sensible use of artillery
    * Complete Unit, Map and AI editor allows users to create scenarios from scratch
    * Improved Play By Email security

I tried to play some of the Matrix games (used to be a hard core board gamer back in the 80s) but they are all to fiddly and stuff. I am sure if you spend some time and really get in to it it might be as fun as it used to be back in them C64/Amiga days. I guess there is a small niche market for games like this, but you have to be a real hard core strategic game fan to enjoy them.

Well those are people who got soooo much free time and no life at all. With a job and family and a kid I only have 45min-2 hours a day max to play something so it's always some shooter or action on X360 now just to relax quickly, to releave myself from stress. I WISH I could enjoy Dreamfall, Runaway 2 or even Oblivion but I just ain't got no time. And shit like Battlefront, Europa Universalis etc is even more time-consuming...

WOW! I deinstalled it after just seeing the menu screen....This goes to all you board game freaks out there trying to dev PC games...DO IT RIGHT! this is 2007 not friggin 1980 anymore. I am sure U put in a lot of effort...but put in some more OK! If you guys want ppl to play this stuff its not enough just to make a cool looking box with a shit hot illustration depicting Rommel and Guderian anymore...give it up or start recruiting some proper coders...thinking out of the box, ya know what I mean...nuff said Razz

I used to like this kind of game, but a long time ago.
Now it's just too much (or just the opposite, totally not enough).

Actually quite a nice amount of people play these games. They appeal to hard core types who know the armour thickness of the rear armour plating on the Tiger that was an addition to improve the def of the backside in the late Sep. 1943 (not to be confused with the armour plate added to the same vehicle in the early Sep. 1943 Razz . Very Happy

Seriously though, they are good fun if you are into that stuff. You just have to realise that the graphics will not be top notch along with a few other cosmetical areas but the gameplay will be pretty good.

Too bad I dont have the patience for these games anymore. Sad
