Posted: Thu, 15th Feb 2007 11:51 Post subject: [XBOX360] The Xbox360 FAQ & Help-section |
|
 |
Because the console-section have been more and more frequented with questions about how to burn games, firmware mods and the likes, i thought i´d write a simple FAQ, wich i hope will bring down the number of questions related to this
First,
THE BASICS
Do I need a modded X360 to play downloaded games?
Yes, you need a flashed DVD-firmware for this.
How do I flash it?
First, find out what DVD drive you have. Check here:
http://pictures.xbox-scene.com/xbox360/dvdtest/samsung-hitachi-benq.jpg
Then read this guide, as it has all the information you need about flashing!
http://www.360mods.net/tutorial/Textbook.pdf
GAMES & BURNING
It´s flashed, then what?
Now you need a Dual Layer DVD-burner, and ofcourse DVD-DL discs.
Remember to buy good discs! Verbatim is a brand that is known to be great for X360-backups.
Where do I download games?
NOT here on NFOhump, read this first!
http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4853
Now that I have a game, how do I burn it?
Read this nice tutorial (ImgBurn, recommended)
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=516786
or, DVD Decrypter
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=514437
OTHER
What about game regions?
If you download a scene-release, if you look in the NFO you will most likely find out what region it is. Or, check here for region info:
http://www.abgx.net/filename/?ch=6
About the E66-error (fall update)
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=559081
Can I play on Live with a modded 360?
Depends on your firmware. The iXtreme-firmwares are supposedly Live-safe.
Read more here LINK
What is this "stealth patched"-thing?
If you have a iXtreme firmware, the game has to be stealth patched in order to even boot. If you dont have a iXtreme firmware, it doesnt really matter, since you will most likely be banned if you go online anyway.

Noob here.
I just bought an xbox 360 thru ebay for a cheap price, which should arrive very soon. The guy who sold it claims that it can read both NTSC and PAL games.
He said that the console is modded meaning it can read both original and backup up games.
Now, the version is the CORE one, which i've been reading comes without an hard disk.
So, i have to download games and burn them to play. That's fine with me, i have all the means to do that.
I do also own an external 120GB hard disk i use with my computer as a storage. Now, is it possible to somehow connect this external drive to the console and have it load the image files without burning them?

Well for one, he lied to you - there's no 360 that reads both PAL and NTSC games!
And secondly no, there's no HDD loader for the X360, everyone has to burn their backups.

Typically the region it was purchased from is a good indicator.
PC: i7-4790k @ 4.4, 32GB @ 2400, Nvidia 1080TI FE, 2 TB Crucial MX500 SSD
Nintendo Switch SX OS Pro / PS4 Pro 5.05 Hen/Mira / PS3 Modded / Wii Modded / 360 Pre-Wave4 mod

European = PAL, America ? NTSCU-U, Asia = NTSC-J.

on the website http://www.dvd-secrets.co.uk/xbox360/ for some releases they say "works as it is". What does that mean, it only works on the format included in the release title? (i.e., "Army.Of.Two.PAL.X360-Allstars - works as it is!" only works on PAL systems?)

Yes, but don't forget to get the 1.4.1 patch if you're using a BenQ drive.
I've got a BenQ and the iExtreme 1.4.1 firmware and it works online perfectly.

i am a complete noob when it comes to consoles.
I have bought a modded xbox 360 + ixtreme 1.4
I don't care much about playing online, i just wonder... that's it? you just download the .iso file, burn it and play it using that firmware already installed in the console?

Hello everyone)
I am new to consoles)
I have a question about Fall 2008 dashboard update.
How do you think: will it detect the flashed firmware? And if it can, will it somehow prevent you from playing new game backups?
I am asking because i have got non-flashed xbox 360 with hitachi drive)) I have plans about flasing but afraid of baning or bricking my console.

No-one knows, since no-one here has any idea of how the update works and what it does. You'll have to wait after it has been released for more information.

is it normal for an xbox 360 bought in 2007 to be pretty noisy?
Also, on many released nfos i see the sentece: "ixtreme compatible". What does that mean?

Depends on the drive, benq is the most chipset friendly drive you can get while the hitachi & samsung drives usually needs to be a VIA card/chipset.
