Sorry if this question has already been answered;
I'm trying to connect my video card to my tele, but the s-video out has 10-pins in it. Finding something to match it hasn't been easy, but i'm curious to know whether a 9-pin will suffice.

mini-DIN 10-pin - S-Video

mini-DIN 9-pin - S-Video

Notice how none of the sockets match up, oh god how hopeless...

It looks like a 9-pin would almost fit perfectly, then again no it doesn't, Sad
but could someone who knows better please enlighten me as to where I could get an adapter for a 10 pin? I was thinking of getting a cheap <video out to rca> and just use headphones for audio.

ATI and nVidia use a special dongle that plugs into their cards that have a regular s-video on it. So depending on the exact model you have, it might be a connector with like 8 wire (1 of them would be s-video) or a breakout box. Heres an example for the x800

Wow, thats a neat little tool you found, but it's kinda pricey. I might be better of getting a different video card, like a geforce4 mx 4000, with regular 4-pin s-video out. I only use my PC to play counter strike CZ and internet anyway. Though I can see the advantage of having something like that. I hope the signal will be bearable for a standard crt tube with composite/s-video.

Also, I think this topic belongs in the Hardware Zone. Sorry Mods, Very Happy

my friend did it with an ati x300 and the quality on a normal tube tv was pure shit, couldnt read what half of the icon said or anything. Games looked alright if there was no text involved. Also I believe the resoluion of a tv you'll have to change your computer resolution to like 800x600 other wise his tv wouldnt read the s-video
