Have a odd problem on a new pc i built for a customer.
When they open only one certain program the screen flickers for a few seconds and then stops. Then random intervals after that it flickers again and stops. Doesnt happen in any other program except this one... "Signblazer" its for doing up big signs for companies etc.
Current Specs atm
Athlon 4200+ AM2
Msi K9NGM2
2gb Kingston Ram
7300GS
250GB sata western digital hdd.
Thermaltake soprano case
Wireless MS keyboard / mouse

Ive changed video card, tried one stick of ram, tried different video drivers, different kb/m corded. refresh rates. Yet still happens. Only choice left is to change the screen, which i will try tomorrow, but its odd that only happens in one program.
I even did the google search and some ppl have the same kinda problem with other programs ie photoshop mainly. But no resolutions.

Any ideas to try would be good.

Yeah, if it's a tft, it most certainly is the screen...

ELIZ, that wasn't the flickering I was talking about... When a TFT nears the end of its lifetime, it sometimes starts to flicker because it has difficulty updating the pixels. Obviously this isn't the case though, as it happens only in one app. Didn't read the whole first post, sorry.

or try to change monitor.
if this problem still remains, it means the problem is NOT in the monitor....

I have the same problem (i think). My screen breifly goes black (like it does when theres no signal) then comes back on again. this happens when certain programs boot (i.e MCE on my crt TV, but not when photoshop opens on my tft) it happens with a few other programs aswell but there seems to be no patern.

The problem only exists with windows operating systems. (vista and xp both suffer)
The screen works fine when plugged into my mac or xbox360.

no matter what graphics card i use the problem remains the same.

To date i have not found a single solution. i may have an idea whats causing it. i belive its caused by some sort of screen refresh command send by certain programs when they boot.

if anyone could shed some light on this problem i would be eternaly greatfuul.

this sounds stupid but i had the same flickering bullshit happening in 3ds max and photoshop .. it didn't matter what monitor or graphics driver i used .. it still happened .. turns out it was the fucking microsoft mouse drivers (intellipoint 6.x) -- i reverted to 5.5 and it all stopped ... so i got a logitech laser mouse and the flicker is gone
