I am running windows xp sp2 professional. I am having what seems to be an irq conflict. I installed windows then installed network driver, ran through the updates, had an issue with windows update so i rebooted and it seemed fine. The next day i turned the PC on and the network card was detected as an unknown device. Seemed weird but I just went ahead and tried to install the driver again. "No Intel Devices Found." Instead of addressing it further i just chalked it up to the win update failure. I format again. This time same thing when it came time to install network card. "No Intel Devices Found." -- I load defualts for bios then disable onboard sound again. same thing "No Intel Devices Found." - I only have one pci device the X-FI so i figured i would take it out and see what happens. It finds the NIC instantly. I look to see if that PCI slot is shared with the NIC. It turns out it's shared with the audio, which i had already disabled. I thought that would mean there wouldn't be a conflict but apparently i was wrong. I only have two other pci slots and they are shared irq with devices i am actually using. PCI 1 is shared with graphics, PCI 2 is shared with Sata, PCI 3 is shared with onboard audio. I disabled audio before doing any of this. Any suggestions? Please let me know, if you need any other info. Any help is really appreciated.

IRQ's are virtual in windows XP, so don't worry about what they say they are, as it doesn't matter. I seem to recall that the X-FI has issues in certain machines based on which slot it is sitting in, so try it in another slot, that should fix the problem.

Thanks for the advice sYn, i think it will too but i don't want to use a diff slot as they are shared with devices i am using. Or do you think it won't slow down my other devices? Also, a lot of people are having issues with the PCI slots on this board. It seems they need to put out a bios update..

As far as I know the asus a8n/a8n32 Premium/Deluxe boards were the best boards as far as 939 socket goes (with asus) and from looking at yours doesn't seem too...worthy of your hardware
a8n32-SLI Deluxe

I have the premium (version before the deluxe) and I can vouch it's a great board with soem damn good capabilities. My own opinion, with hardware like that I'd want it backed up by a better motherboard.
Take the reviews on newegg with a grain of salt as half of them are retarded, someone gave the board a con cause his VIDEO CARDS don't blow the heat out of the case, wtf does that have to do with the board.

I had the same issues as you with my rig and the X-Fi. As suggested before, swapping it out to another slot fixed it for me. I then proceeded to put it back in it's original slot with a fresh install of Windows and it worked fine, I dunno wierd stuff.

They're not shared (in an IRQ sense).. they just say they are. Don't worry about it, swap it out and it should work fine.

I agree, this board was part of a barebones kit. I would have never grabbed such a crap board. I figured i would give it a shot though, as i normally don't overclock and just need basic functionality out of the board.

im not an overclocker either, I just like the fact this board is rock solid and the cooling solution on the chipset

Works fine! Thanks for the advice. Took me awhile to get the ambition to mess with it again, but in a diff slot seems to work fine.
