oh those slimey fuck bags. they promised march.. i was prepared to give them april, but what the fuck? some of us have systems we want to build here...
basically it sounds like they are holding it back not to work on it, but just to make sure they can make more money... amd are a bunch of slimey shitweasels. this also means that nvidia has a chance to better compete with amd, because amds 'allready completed card' is now aging while being held back from sale....what a bunch of fucking cunts. i was counting on a mid march, early april release... and if they are saying may, you knwo its going to be fucking june.

It's just their regular paper launches. If you didn't think that it would be delayed, you are pretty naive. Anyway, by the time they are ready to launch nVIDIA will be standing by with their 8950gx2s, and three days later... nVIDIA takes the lead again.

Yeah, like there's anything to actually require GDDR4... And the G80 architecture supports GDDR4.

So does the X1950XTX I believe, but the difference between GDDR3 and GDDR4 isnt enough by a mile to blow nVIDIA out of the water.

well i think this was an idiotic move by amd... in an attempt to make more cash, they are SITTING on an allready developed card that is going to probably be behind the curve when its released, rather than bringing it out NOW to compete with the allready aging 8800 cards... this kind of marketing move reminds me a hell of a lot of sony to be honest...

Is it me, or do people constantly talk about ATI as AMD? Am I unaware that they merged or are partners now or something? I'm not being sarcastic, just actually curious if I missed something, or just because 2 companies have the same 3 letter acronym we keep getting them confused.
As well, I like delays of products, it usually means they found a major problem in some of their design or something, they give you some bullshit excuse, but ultimately release a better product.
If I wasn't so worried about my NForce4 board hating any video card besides Nvidia's I'd have gone ATI a long time ago, but since the new cards are all getting developed better, I'll probably wait til ATI releases something new before buying a new card. 7800GT is getting dated

Yeah it's AMD/ATi now after the merger. There is a ridiculous amount of Nvidia fanboyism on these forums. Yes you used your hard earned money on the as of now most powerful graphics card on the market, great job but nobody even knows what the competitors product is capable of.
I don't blame them, If I had $600 to spare I would back up my purchase 100%.
It looks like the R600 is the new R520 to R580. The amount of people ATi pissed off with the X1800XT -> X1900XT immediately after is mind boggling. It looks like this R600 will be the same deal.

I'ts DAAMIT. (seriously)
@KrAzY-KaMeL: Because of all the delays and paper launches of DAAMIT, nVIDIA is ready with several more powerful SKUs than them. Of course I might be wrong, DAAMIT might have an ubersuperpowerful card that beats the crap out of the 8800... but take a look at the history of ATI, and you'll immediately think otherwise.
I might add, another reason why so many people choose nVIDIA (besides their great cards and drivers) is because ATI's linux drivers have always been a pile of crap.

i will wait till april and ill see how both ati's card and crossfire, stacks up against what nvidia is offering. but yeah this is such a stupid ass move by ati. hate to keep repeating myself, but it just boggles the mind why ati would sit on an allready developed (and now aging) card instead of selling it... its not like postponing it a few months will mean it'll magically become a more powerful card... quite the opposite... grrr makes me wish i could talk to the people making this decision just to try and understand their thinking...
