The best thing to do is Pre Order one at your local Console store.. Mainly Console stores get big batches compaired to normal shops (Eg the local Gamestation store near me in the UK were getting 30 - 40 Wiis in per a week compaired to the 2 or 3 per a week that other shops were getting in...

I got one on launch day but I do know two other people who want to get their hands on them and who also cant find them anywhere! Quite surprising since the console has been out all most 3 months already!

I was just lucky...was on one of the deals I frequent all day and saw it was in stock at Amazon...did my 1-click and it was mine...lol
do keep checking sites like fatwallet and slickdeals, they have the most realtime availability postings

I know there are alot of people that are running scripts for online sites for bestbuy and others. A friend of mine uses a script that reports when best buy gets new wii stock, and it automatically adds it to his check out. This script is quite simple and common, so i bet there are more people doing it.
Do what steve-o says, per order it in person, at your local game store.

apparently if you dont pre order expect to wait untill summer for Stores to have constant stock in... Anyway, even if you do pre order but get one from somewhere else you can cancel your pre order...
Search Google for "Wii Stock" and it will bring some sites up that let you know when Wii's are instock from a range of different online stores..
